Health & Safety ManagerThe Health & Safety Manager will:
- Provide expert guidance and advice to project team on health and safety matters, with the authority to stop unsafe work in coordination with CO and COR as necessary to protect personnel.
- Review D-BE's Health and Safety plans, activity hazard assessments, job hazard assessments, and procedures tailored to the unique risks of the projects that align with federal, state, and NIST regulations and requirements.
- Participate in project planning to ensure safety measures are considered from design phase to completion.
- Define clear, measurable safety benchmarks for the entire project team.
- Manage documentation and reporting for health and safety including training records, inspection reports, incident reports and regulatory filings.
- Lead Project Team in investigations of accidents, injuries, or near-misses to determine root causes, document findings, and ensure that corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Coordinate emergency response plans amongst project team. Review and have awareness of contractor health and safety programs and distribute information amongst other stakeholders.
- Act as primary point of contact for project team health & safety representatives and regulatory bodies in coordination with the COR.
- Oversee Contractor safety including plans, orientations, and training.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum 10 years overseeing safety for facility design and construction projects with multiple phases and multi-year duration.
- BS in applicable discipline from an accredited ABET university or college or minimum 16 years of Construction Safety Experience on projects of similar scope and complexity.
- Experience working on Federal facilities, preferably Federal research facilities with energized systems in large central plants, electrical substations, mission critical and special purpose buildings, including but not limited to chill water, steam, central air & power systems as well as site utility installation, including trenching, critical lifts and rigging
Physical and Environmental Demands- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Constantly assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Occasionally moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Occasionally remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
- Occasional low and high temperatures due to working outside during all seasons, along with elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Occasional noise while on construction sites.
