Overview

Lutron Electronics is seeking an experienced, proactive, and people-focused Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to support our manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution operations in Ashland, VA. In this high-impact leadership role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the site's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and corporate standards. As a key member of Lutron's global HSE team and the Northlake leadership team, you will lead the site's safety strategy, foster a strong culture of safety and accountability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that protect our employees, contractors, and visitors. You will use your proven leadership and communication skills to influence at all levels of the organization, build strong partnerships across functions, and lead through collaboration to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the site's HSE management system while aligning local initiatives with Lutron's global HSE standards.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, training, safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with site leadership and cross-functional teams to integrate HSE into manufacturing, warehouse, engineering, facilities, and distribution operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, emergency preparedness, and regulatory reporting.
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and risk assessments while driving hazard identification and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide HSE guidance for operational changes, capital projects, equipment installations, contractor activities, and process improvements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, environmental programs, permitting activities, and compliance audits.
  • Maintain HSE metrics, scorecards, and reporting while supporting site and corporate objectives, including TRIR performance.
  • Work closely with Lutron's Wellness Center to support preventive care and employee wellness initiatives.
  • Lead and develop the site's HSE team while supporting Safety Captains and promoting employee engagement across all shifts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related technical field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • CSP, ISHS, CIH, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, environmental regulations, incident investigation, risk assessment, and HSE management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading regulatory compliance, audits, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE reporting systems.
  • This is a fully onsite role requiring the successful candidate to work onsite five days per week.
  • You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.

The salary range for this position is dependent on the selected candidate's experience and the level at which they are hired. Starting pay: $125,000 - $153,000 per year; Lutron's employee benefits include 401k match, health, dental, and life insurance, paid vacation (amount based on tenure with the company), flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement programs.
