About the RoleSeeking a Head of RTDS Laboratories to lead global Real-Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) lab operations supporting renewable energy systems, grid automation platforms, and advanced power system controls.
This role will oversee RTDS laboratories in Dallas and Riyadh while driving hardware-in-the-loop validation, grid simulation strategies, renewable energy system testing, and advanced power system studies.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in power system simulation, renewable energy controls, grid dynamics, and engineering leadership across complex validation environments.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage RTDS laboratory operations across multiple global locations
- Build and oversee teams focused on power system simulation and validation engineering
- Develop simulation environments for renewable energy systems, hybrid energy platforms, and grid interaction studies
- Support hardware-in-the-loop testing for grid automation and control systems
- Validate control algorithms and system performance under real-world grid disturbance conditions
- Support compliance testing for regional grid interconnection and stability requirements
- Partner with engineering, architecture, controls, and solutions teams to improve product readiness prior to deployment
- Establish simulation frameworks, validation standards, and testing governance processes
- Support advanced research involving grid-forming inverters, frequency response, oscillation damping, and distributed energy resource coordination
- Participate in technical engagements with utilities, grid operators, and renewable energy developers
Requirements- 12+ years of experience in power systems, renewable energy controls, grid automation, or related engineering environments
- Strong experience with RTDS, PSCAD, EMTDC, or similar real-time simulation platforms
- Experience designing and executing hardware-in-the-loop testing environments
- Background in renewable energy systems including solar, wind, or hybrid energy platforms
- Strong understanding of power system dynamics, transient stability, and grid interaction studies
- Experience leading engineering teams, simulation labs, or advanced validation environments
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Bachelor's degree required
