Job Title: Head of U.S. Digital Market Access

  • Location: Morristown, NJ or Cambridge, MA - 3 days per week onsite - required.

About the Job

The Head of U.S. Digital Market Access is a pivotal role that owns the operational applications, systems and source-system data that run U.S. Market Access contracting, pricing, offer and rebate management, Government Pricing and gross to net and is the Digital business partner to U.S. Market Access leadership. The role exists to make that landscape a dependable, compliant and largely automated foundation for the U.S. business, and to build the team and the governance that keep it that way. It partners with the business advising, recommending and delivering against objectives the business owns while setting the technical direction the U.S. business depends on.

Four programs define the next three years. The person in this role will be measured on landing them.

  • RMUS as the foundation. Stand up the U.S. revenue management platform as the system of record for commercial contracting and rebates, transition off the preceding arrangements, and prove it under audit. This is the foundational U.S. piece and the largest single commitment of the period.
  • Model N modernization and iShift integration. Bring the revenue management estate onto current, supportable versions with materially less custom code, and integrate it cleanly with the iShift ERP programme so that pricing, invoicing and rebate flows reconcile without manual intervention.
  • Government Pricing and gross-to-net modernization. Rebuild the Government Pricing calculation and gross-to-net estimation stack Medicaid, Federal, Medicare ASP and the Anaplan gross-to-net model for accuracy, transparency, auditability and speed of close.
  • Contract and offer automation, and AI-enabled operations. Move contracting and offer management to digital-first workflows, eliminate the remaining manual handoffs, and put AI and agentic workflows / automation to work in Market Access operations interacting intimately with modernization for US commercial with the U.S. Data Foundations (USDF) teams and the AI use-case lead.

Across all four the measure is the same: fewer manual handoffs, fewer errors, a faster and cleaner close, lower run cost, and a landscape that passes audit.

Main Responsibilities

Business partnership and governance:

  • Act as trusted advisor and service partner to U.S. Market Access leadership engaged early in business planning, anticipating needs and bringing options ahead of demand.
  • Establish and chair the governance forum for Market Access operations and applications where priorities and trade-offs are decided and recorded; represent Market Access operational systems in the Data Enablement Council, where data and AI demand is prioritized with domain owners.
  • Maintain a single, current portfolio view of Market Access digital activity and a formal demand intake, so trade-offs are visible rather than absorbed informally.

Platform architecture, systems and data ownership:

  • Own architecture, delivery and lifecycle across the Market Access application landscape and its integrations in coordination and in line with Sanofi IT architectural core strategy
  • Own the source systems and the data originating in them definitions, quality, lineage and ownership and their reliable delivery into the enterprise data platforms, including USDF. Analytics, reporting and AI/ML data products are built by the US Data & Analytics team.
  • Hold design decisions in line with enterprise standards, favouring shared platforms and configuration that are future proof over locally built custom solutions.
  • Anticipate the evolution of platforms and address obsolescence diligently across the lifecycle of the programs and platforms.

Budget and Investment:

  • Manage the investment envelope with rigorous financial governance, milestone tracking and value realization owning the full cycle: annual build, monthly forecast, accrual and purchase-order discipline, and landing the year within agreed tolerance.
  • Maintain the consolidated view of total digital investment supporting U.S. Market Access with the business, other Digital teams and the U.S. Business Unit CFOs. Budgets for capabilities delivered by other teams sit with the delivering team; this role is accountable for the accuracy and transparency of the consolidated view.
  • Build the business cases, track realized value after go-live, and deliver an annual productivity commitment through vendor and licence rationalization.

Team, capability and vendors:

  • Ensure continued outside-in perspective with constant sanity checks on benchmarking and best in class experiences.
  • Lead and develop a team of managers and specialists across internal (20+) and outsourced (30+) resources, setting clear objectives, standards and accountability.
  • Build technical and functional strength, remove single-person dependency on business-critical systems and knowledge, and own succession for key roles.
  • Own vendor performance and commercial terms including Model N and systems integrators holding partners to committed outcomes and managing total cost of ownership.

Compliance, risk and reporting:

  • Keep the landscape compliant and audit-ready: government price reporting obligations, OIG guidance, the anti-kickback statute, HIPAA, data privacy, and Computer System Validation where applicable.
  • Operate a no-surprises protocol toward Digital leadership on delivery, budget and risk early, quantified, with mitigation options and a recommendation.
  • Produce executive-ready reporting and analysis on a consistent set of metrics, which stands up under challenge without rework.

Technical Expertise Required

  • Revenue management and contracting platforms. Hands-on depth in Model N, or a directly comparable revenue management platform, across commercial contracting, chargebacks, rebate processing and membership / class of trade.
  • Government Pricing. Working command of the calculation logic behind Medicaid (AMP, URA, Best Price), Federal (FSS, IFF, 340B) and Medicare ASP and of what makes those calculations defensible under audit.
  • Gross-to-net. The estimation and accrual model, its drivers, and how it reconciles to actuals, including planning tooling such as Anaplan.
  • Contract lifecycle and workflow automation. Contract lifecycle management and process automation platforms, and judgement about where automation genuinely removes effort rather than relocating it.
  • Integration, ERP and master data. API- and event-based integration patterns, batch reconciliation, and master and reference data (product, customer, membership) including integration with a major ERP program such as iShift.
  • Source-system data foundations. Data definitions, quality rules, lineage and ownership at the source, and reliable delivery of that data into enterprise data platforms for downstream analytics and AI consumption.
  • Modern platform stewardship. Keeping SaaS platforms on supported versions, reducing custom code and technical debt, and running a cloud/SaaS operating model rather than a bespoke estate.
  • AI and automation judgement. Enough command of AI and agentic automation to identify where it materially improves accuracy, speed or cost in Market Access operations and where it does not.
  • Experience with AI orchestration platforms Elementum, AWS Bedrock, Snowflake, Agentforce or equivalent and the judgement to apply them in Market Access operations.
  • Compliance by design. Access control, audit trail and segregation of duties in pricing and contracting systems.
  • Boundary with other Digital Teams. Building analytics and BI products and developing data-science and AI/ML models, sits with the US Data & Analytics team. This role is expected to be fluent in the AI orchestration and automation stack it operates on and supplies the source-system data and domain understanding those teams depend on it does not build the analytics layer.
