Farrow & Ball - Head of Retail, U.S. - Remote - New York, NY

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our global retail team overseeing retail business and operations in the United States. We are offering this position on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fully remote position, and candidates must be based in the New York tri-state area.

The Head of Retail is responsible for leading and scaling Farrow & Ball's U.S. retail business and physical store network. This senior leadership role will shape and execute the U.S. retail strategy, with accountability for sales performance, operational excellence, customer happiness, talent development, profitability, and growth.

The role will drive sustainable growth, consistent brand execution, and U.S. expansion while providing a strong U.S. perspective to the Global Retail strategy. The Head of Retail will collaborate across functions to ensure the U.S. retail proposition remains market-leading, future-focused, premium, and aspirational.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute the U.S. retail strategy to achieve revenue, profitability, and expansion goals.
  • Identify opportunities for new stores, market growth, and optimization of existing locations.
  • Lead new store openings from site sourcing and concept through launch.
  • Establish annual business plans, sales targets, and performance objectives.
  • Drive customer acquisition, conversion, transaction value, and retention.
  • Partner with executive and channel leaders to align retail strategy with business goals and drive growth.

Store Operations & Performance

  • Lead regional and store leadership teams across multiple locations and regions.
  • Ensure consistent execution of operational standards, policies, procedures, and brand expectations.
  • Use analytics and performance reporting to drive store and regional results.
  • Improve productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee inventory management, loss prevention, and operational compliance.

Financial Management

  • Own retail Profit & Loss performance and accountability.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Manage labor costs, operating expenses, and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins and maximize return on investment.
  • Present business and financial performance to senior leadership.

Customer Experience & Brand Execution

  • Champion a culture that puts customer happiness at the forefront across all retail locations.
  • Ensure a consistent, brand-aligned customer experience.
  • Partner with Marketing on cross-channel experiences and activations.
  • Maintain the highest visual merchandising and brand standards.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing regional and store leadership teams.
  • Establish succession plans and leadership development programs.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Regional Sales Managers to recruit, engage, and retain top retail talent.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Commercial, Finance, Marketing, Planning, Operations, People & Culture, and E-commerce.
  • Align inventory, resource planning, and marketing strategies with retail priorities.
  • Support omnichannel initiatives integrating online and in-store experiences.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that improve customer and team outcomes.

  • Strong strategic planning, commercial acumen, and business judgment.

  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and Profit & Loss management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent extensive retail experience considered. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive retail leadership experience.
  • 5+ years leading multi-unit, regional, or geographically dispersed retail operations.
  • Proven experience operating at the Senior Leadership Team or executive level.
  • Proven ownership of retail Profit & Loss, including revenue growth, profitability, and expense management.
  • Proven experience sourcing, developing, and opening new stores at scale.
  • Demonstrated success expanding brand presence and driving sales growth in new markets.
  • Proven success driving operational excellence and profitable growth.
  • Proven success building, developing, and retaining high-performing retail leadership teams.
  • Omnichannel retail experience preferred.

Travel Requirements

Regular travel is required to Farrow & Ball showrooms, retail locations, and regional teams across the United States.
