Full Job Description
The Finance Role:
We're looking for a finance person to join our team and run the money side of an unusual anime company.
We train state-of-the-art anime diffusion models (like the world's leading anime model, niji• journey), and then we build anime video games using these models.
You'll report directly to the CEO and help make sure that our books add up and our contracts pencil out.
We're looking for somebody who loves anime and video games as much as we do.
What you'll do:
Do the books. We are looking for somebody to close, reconcile and do financial statements across a US parent and a Japanese subsidiary.
Run spend and controls. Own Ramp, expense policy, bill pay and approvals.
Keep us compliant in US and Japan. We need help with our US federal and state taxes, Delaware, Japanese filings, tax treaties, R&D credits, transfer pricing and audits.
Game launch finance. App store payouts, global sales tax/VAT/JCT on digital goods, multi-currency revenue and live-ops monetization reporting for our upcoming mobile title.
Compute economics. Help keep our combination of cloud and on-prem GPUs running through vendor negotiations, multi-year contract modeling, and even capex + realestate transactions.
Strategic M&A. We have capital set aside for strategic acquisitions. Help us find, diligence and close them.
You might be a great fit if:
You genuinely love anime and games. We're really looking for somebody who is a consumer of the media we make, because it is important to understand why people pay money for it.
You've been the finance lead at a startup before. You've made finance models involving multiple entities, international teams, or heavy infrastructure spend.
You hate politics and management in general. You're comfortable running finance solo with a fleet of agents. Our company is very flat: many of our departments are of size one, and we want more people who prefer it this way.
You're comfortable with in-person.We do require you to be on-site for most of the week in San Francisco. Our office culture is embarrassingly adorable, so we think it's not too bad.
