PeopleTec is currently seeking an H-1 Aviation Subject Matter Expert to support our Huntsville, AL location.
PeopleTec is seeking an H-1 Aviation Subject Matter Expert to help develop and test AI training capabilities for the H-1 flight simulator. You will work with AI/ML and software engineers to translate H-1 procedures and training requirements into clear, testable requirements, evaluate system performance from the pilot and instructor perspective, and support simulator testing. This position is based in Huntsville, AL, with consideration for a location near the customer training site. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Duties:
• Define H-1 cockpit commands, terminology, procedures, and training requirements for use in the AI system.
• Develop and review training scenarios and doctrinal content to ensure they accurately reflect H-1 training requirements.
• Evaluate AI-generated answers, scenarios, and voice-command behavior for accuracy, safety, and alignment with approved procedures.
• Operate the flight simulator during factory, on-site, operational assessment, and acceptance testing and document deficiencies from the pilot/instructor perspective.
• Provide speech data and instructor feedback to support model training, evaluation, and improvement.
• Work with engineers and customer personnel to refine system capabilities, training materials, assessment methods, and after-action review products.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
• 8+ years of relevant aviation experience. Qualified H-1 pilot (AH-1Z or UH-1Y) with fleet experience within the last five years. Demonstrated H-1 expertise will be considered regardless of total years of experience.
• Working knowledge of H-1 T&R requirements, flight manual procedures, and standardized cockpit and radio communications.
• Experience operating H-1 flight simulators from the instructor/operator station.
• Ability to translate H-1 procedures and training requirements into clear, testable requirements and communicate effectively with engineering teams.
• Willingness to participate in speech recording, system evaluation, and simulator testing.
• Ability to travel approximately 25%, with additional travel around test events.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant military or professional experience may substitute for a degree. Completion of military flight training and designation as an H-1 pilot (AH-1Z or UH-1Y) required.
Desired Skills:
• Instructor pilot or weapons and tactics instructor qualification; simulator instructor experience
• Experience with joint fires coordination and close air support procedures
• Prior work on training device development, scenario authoring, or courseware with an engineering team
• Comfort using AI tools day to day and interest in shaping how an AI instructor should behave
