Job Title: Grant Writing Specialist

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 annually

Job Status: Full time/salary

Work Location: Chino Hills, CA

JOB SUMMARY

The Grant Specialist plays a vital role in securing funding by developing compelling grant proposals, managing grant documentation, and supporting program development initiatives. This position contributes to advancing the

organization's mission through effective grant strategies, strategic planning, creative and meticulous proposal development.

The Grant Specialist position will be reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Contracts and Revenue, strongly prefer 100% in-person work at the corporate office, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. May consider remote work depending on the candidate's geographical location.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and Abilities

Grant Writing & Fundraising Expertise:
  • Proven experience in grant proposal writing, fundraising, and contract management.
  • Strong understanding of grant life cycle management from research to reporting.
  • Ability to tailor proposals to meet specific funder requirements.
  • Knowledge in IDD and Medicaid Waiver funding system is preferred

Research & Strategic Planning:
  • Strong research skills to identify and evaluate new funding opportunities.
  • Knowledge of program development and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to align funding strategies with organizational goals.

Financial & Budgeting Knowledge:
  • Experience developing comprehensive grant budgets and financial reports.
  • Ability to interpret and apply funding guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and documentation processes.

Communication & Writing Skills:
  • Exceptional technical writing, editing, and proofreading abilities. Creative writing is a must
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

Organization & Time Management:
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently.
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation management skills.

Education and Experience

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field.

Minimum Experience Required:
  • 3+ years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, or fundraising.
  • Experience preparing budgets and financial reports for grant applications.

Experience with contract management and compliance reporting preferred.

Essential Functions

Grant Research & Development:
  • Research and identify funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors. Maintain a grant calendar and track submission deadlines.

Proposal Writing & Submission:
  • Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals and supporting documents. Ensure all submissions meet funder requirements and compliance standards.

Budget Preparation & Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare detailed grant budgets and financial reports in collaboration with finance and program teams. Ensure accuracy and alignment with grant guidelines.

Grant Management & Reporting:
  • Manage grant applications from inception through submission and post-award reporting. Maintain organized documentation and ensure timely submission of required reports.

Collaboration & Program Support:
  • Work closely with program staff to gather data, outcomes, and impact information for proposals and reports. Support strategic planning related to fundraising goals and program expansion.

Funder Relations:
  • Maintain ongoing communication with funders, ensuring timely reporting, compliance, and relationship stewardship.
