The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Government SAP Security Officer (GSSO) for the 19th Space Defense Squadron. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight, administration, and execution of Special Access Program (SAP) security requirements and facility management. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of specialized security protocols, physical facility requirements, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the uninterrupted protection of sensitive government assets and information.
Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Specialist to serve as the Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer for the 19th Space Defense Squadron. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional responsible for the comprehensive oversight, administration, and execution of all SAP security requirements and facility management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary authority on Special Access Program (SAP) security, ensuring strict adherence to all government and program-specific directives.
- Manage all aspects of personnel security, including processing access requests, conducting indoctrinations, and maintaining access rosters.
- Act as the functional expert for the physical and technical security of Secure Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and SAP Facilities (SAPFs).
- Serve as the primary liaison with external security offices, law enforcement, and counterintelligence agencies.
- Act as the squadron's Facility Manager, coordinating maintenance, construction projects, and the escort of uncleared personnel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Professional knowledge of federal, Department of War, and Department of the Air Force security policies is required to govern Special Access Programs (SAP) and ensure strict compliance across squadron operations.
2. The ability to manage physical and technical security requirements for Secure Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs) is essential to maintain proper facility accreditations.
3. Skill in administering SAP personnel security and access control programs is necessary to manage Program Access Requests (PARs), conduct indoctrinations, and maintain flawless rosters.
4. The ability to serve as a primary liaison with external Program Security Offices, counterintelligence units, and law enforcement agencies is critical to mitigating security threats.
5. Knowledge of federal facility management procedures is required to submit, coordinate, and track complex work orders and projects through NAVFAC, CNIC, and other public agencies.
6. The ability to coordinate facility maintenance, escort uncleared personnel, and collaborate with the unit Resource Officer (RA) is essential to align operational execution with financial tracking.
7. Skill in written and oral communication is necessary to conduct security training, prepare compliance documents, and interface with military and civilian leadership.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Must attain DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification and complete related continuous learning requirements.
- Must complete DoD SCW Basic-level certification courses within one year.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 25 days a year.
- This is a Mission Essential Position.
- PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
