About the Job:

We are seeking a Mine Geology Superintendent for our Rochester operation near Lovelock, NV. This position will report to the Manager of Technical Services. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership to the geology department. This position will require company supported relocation to Lovelock, NV to work 4 days on, 3 days off schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all employees within the Mine Geology group,
  • Manage and oversee all mine geology and geotechnical engineering activities,
  • Ensure ongoing effective management of staff by setting clear performance goals, providing regular feedback and development through training. Respond and provide advice to questions regarding grade control, geological modeling, and geotechnical monitoring,
  • Supervise in-pit geological analysis and modeling,
  • Control costs with respect to mine geology and geotechnical monitoring and maximize efficiencies by implementing approved recommendations,
  • Recommend alternative procedures, methods, and policies to improve performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements,
  • Oversee the development of policies and procedures with respect to geological modeling, grade control, and geotechnical monitoring,
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements,
  • Manage databases and review data for production and reconciliation purposes,
  • Provide assistance in the training and skill development with regards to technical issues in mine geology and geotechnical engineering,
  • Ensure direct reports have appropriate support in their development, training, and coaching


Experience & Qualifications:
  • BS in Geology or Geological Engineering. Master's degree is an asset. An MBA or an advanced degree is desirable
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in an open pit mining environment,
  • Excellent understanding of economic geology and mineral deposits,
  • Excellent understanding of exploration drilling techniques, Sampling Theory, and QA/QC,
  • Strong leadership abilities in a production situation,
  • Knowledgeable in data management and geological and resource estimation tools,
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail,
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually,
  • Strong interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills,
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization,
  • Experience as a qualified person working with Technical Reports (S-K 1300/NI 43-101),
  • Excellent working knowledge of software such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Microsoft Project,
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
