OverviewCivil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking a Geologist / Environmental Project Manager to join our growing environmental team in Detroit (Wixom), MI. This is an opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to lead solid waste, environmental investigation, compliance, and remediation projects while supporting a diverse mix of solid waste, industrial, energy, public sector, and redevelopment clients throughout the region.
You'll play a key role in managing projects, mentoring staff, coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, and supporting the continued growth of CEC's environmental practice. This position offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise with project leadership while helping clients navigate complex environmental challenges and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage landfill environmental compliance monitoring programs, including sampling activities, data management, reporting, and regulatory coordination
- Manage and execute site/hydrogeologic investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling programs, data evaluation, and project oversight
- Oversee remediation projects, including source removal activities, corrective actions, and long-term monitoring programs
- Prepare and review technical reports, environmental documentation, and regulatory submittals
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams to support project objectives
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior staff and field personnel
- Manage project schedules, budgets, scope, and deliverables while maintaining quality and client satisfaction

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of environmental consulting, geology, or environmental project experience
- Experience managing environmental investigation, remediation, compliance, and/or due diligence projects
- Experience working with environmental regulations and regulatory agencies
- Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams
- Professional licensure or certifications applicable to the environmental field are a plus
