Job Description
CDM Smith is looking for an entry-level Geologist to join our Environmental Services Group in Concord, CA.
As part of our team, you will perform basic site investigations, geologic and seismic evaluations, and hydrogeologic analyses (such as aquifer test analysis, geochemical analysis, geotechnical analysis, and contaminant transport analysis) in both surface and subsurface geologic conditions related to contaminant assessments. Your tasks may include lithologic and geophysical well logging, water sampling, surface geological mapping, aquifer performance testing, soils characterization, and data compilation and evaluation. You will prepare cross sections, iso-contour and iso-concentration maps, and perform QA/QC analyses. You will develop draft evaluations and calculations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all projects. You could attend conferences and/or contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs for publication in technical journals.
Skills & Abilities
Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Communications skills. Basic knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
