Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Subject Matter Expert gives the development team GEOINT tradecraft and NSG/ASG mission context throughout the Product Roadmap, so that search, rendering and product display reflect how analysts actually work rather than generic assumptions. This person understands the full lifecycle of a finished GEOINT product: how it is authored in CPD or iReport, how it is packaged, and how it is disseminated through PDS or RIS to NGA, NSG and ASG consumers. They serve as the team's authority on product structure, metadata and analyst workflow.
Key Responsibilities- Product domain expertise: Advise on the structure, content, metadata and data conventions of each of the eleven approved GEOINT product types, and on the Finished Intelligence (FINTEL) workflows analysts follow to take a product from draft to release.
- Schema and metadata mapping: Help map RIS GEOINT Product JSON and legacy CPD Tape Archive (TAR) bundles (XML, HTML, PNG and JPEG artifacts) to DPL rendering and indexing. Identify real-world variability and edge cases, and confirm reliable extraction of latitude/longitude, Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) coordinates, date-time, product type and related attributes. Advise on backward compatibility with LNI PUBS v9 and v12.
- Rendering fidelity: Check that on-demand current-template HTML rendering matches the NGA Style Guide for each product type, including older products rendered in the current format (PWS 5.1.2).
- Search relevance: Define search use cases, reference queries and acceptance criteria. Supply NSG/ASG terminology, acronyms, alternate names and related concepts to guide LLM-assisted query expansion. Help resolve the UER finding that analysts cannot find their own reporting (PWS 5.1.3).
- User experience and HCD: Represent the analyst's point of view in design of the landing page, card-based results and "Map of the World" view. Support usability sessions and sprint demos, and turn analyst workflows into user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira.
- Option period expertise: Define the author feedback workflow (comments, quality assessments, suggested revisions, enhancement requests) and Secret domain considerations (Option 1). Advise on FVEY releasability and on metadata variability in second-party and third-party partner products (Option 2).
- Training (PWS 5.4.2): Develop and deliver familiarization and proficiency training and materials for the Erebus CMO team, the OrcSrvcs PMO and NGA Capability Managers (APS).
- Technical advisory: Act as a technical consultant on complex problems. Work through the Program Manager with Government personnel to make sure problems are properly identified, defined and mitigated, and support Agile engineering spikes.
Required SkillsRequired Qualifications- 4-8 years of relevant experience; BA/BS in a related field, or 10-15 years of experience in the labor category.
- Active TS/SCI clearance. Willing to take, or has already passed, a Counterintelligence-Scope Polygraph.
- Demonstrated experience in GEOINT production, dissemination or discovery at NGA or an NSG partner, with working knowledge of finished GEOINT product types and their metadata.
- Familiarity with one or more of CPD, PDS, NGA Globe, OrcSrvcs or similar IC dissemination and discovery systems.
- Ability to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, and to work within agile teams in Jira.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge analysts and software developers.
Desired SkillsDesired Qualifications- Prior experience as a GEOINT analyst, reporter or product manager, or supporting NGA dissemination systems.
- Knowledge of XML and JSON metadata, LNI publication standards (PUBS v9/v12), IC classification markings and releasability handling (e.g., REL TO, FVEY).
- Geographic Information System (GIS) proficiency (e.g., Esri ArcGIS), coordinate systems and MGRS.
- Experience developing and delivering training curricula for technical systems.
