Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Cloud Engineer to help build, enhance, and support a large-scale Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with deep public cloud experience who can develop platforms, automation, and tooling that enable engineering teams to build and operate secure, resilient, cloud-native applications at scale. The ideal candidate will bring extensive GCP expertise, strong Infrastructure as Code experience, and a software engineering mindset toward cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Build, enhance, and support an enterprise-scale Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
• Design and develop reusable cloud infrastructure, platform capabilities, and self-service solutions for engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code with a strong emphasis on Terraform.
• Build automation to improve cloud provisioning, governance, security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and support CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling, including technologies such as Jenkins and Artifactory.
• Apply Git and GitOps practices to cloud infrastructure and platform engineering.
• Write code and scripts regularly to automate cloud engineering and operational processes.
• Help engineering teams adopt cloud-native architectures and build scalable, resilient applications.
• Develop cloud governance capabilities supporting security, compliance, cost management, and consistent engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud platform and production issues across infrastructure, applications, and delivery pipelines.
• Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to improve cloud adoption and maturity.
• Build and maintain documentation and engineering workflows using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Evaluate emerging cloud and open-source technologies and incorporate appropriate capabilities into the platform.
• Mentor senior engineers and help establish cloud engineering standards and best practices.
Required Qualifications
• Approximately 10+ years of hands-on architecture and engineering experience, with significant recent experience in public cloud environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms.
• Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
• Strong understanding of Git, GitOps, source control, and modern software engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience building automation and reusable engineering solutions.
• Experience developing and supporting enterprise CI/CD pipelines, including tools such as Jenkins.
• Experience with artifact management platforms such as Artifactory.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native application architecture, resiliency, scalability, and security.
• Experience establishing cloud environments that are secure, compliant, cost-effective, and easy for development teams to adopt.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure, deployment, and production issues.
• Experience working with engineering collaboration and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across engineering, security, infrastructure, and application teams.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on with cloud engineering, automation, and platform development.
• Ability to take ownership of ambiguous technical challenges and develop reusable solutions rather than one-off fixes.
