The roleThis seat joins a dedicated 22-person team delivering a multicloud managed service - AWS, Azure and Google Cloud across roughly 155 cloud accounts - to a major automotive enterprise client and its business units. This seat owns Google Cloud end to end: the architecture and governance standard, the client relationship for GCP workloads, and the transition of GCP billing and resale away from the incumbent partner. It is a lead role with a small GCP team reporting into it, and it may also absorb Azure oversight.
What you will do- Lead the GCP practice: architecture standards, landing zone, organization/folder/project structure, IAM and policy.
- Own the GCP governance floor and align it with the AWS CCoE standards so the client sees one operating model, not three.
- Be the client-facing technical owner for GCP: service reviews, roadmap, escalation and business-unit engagement.
- Manage the transition of GCP billing and resale from the incumbent partner, including billing account structure, commitments and continuity of support.
- Lead and develop the GCP operations engineers; set their standards and review their work.
- Own GCP cost management and reporting alongside the FinOps architect.
- Take Azure architectural oversight if the consolidation decision is confirmed.
What we need - must have- 8+ years in cloud infrastructure, including 4+ years leading on Google Cloud at enterprise scale.
- GCP architecture depth: organization and project hierarchy, VPC and hybrid networking, IAM, GKE, Cloud SQL, logging and monitoring.
- Experience owning a practice, service or team - not solely an individual-contributor architect.
- Client-facing seniority: able to run a service review and hold a difficult conversation with an enterprise stakeholder.
- Understanding of GCP commercial mechanics: billing accounts, committed use discounts, reseller and partner billing transitions.
- Able to work onsite in Irvine, CA.
