The Opportunity with McKinstry

The Functional Training Program Manager ensures that training delivery, instructional development and knowledge assets are aligned to provide creative high-caliber job specific training for business operations and project delivery. Additional responsibilities may include:

Training Program Development
  • Work directly with development teams and stakeholders to produce extraordinary training content and agile eLearning solutions.
  • Manage training programs and projects in an entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Assess current and upcoming business needs / strategic initiatives. Design and propose innovative training solutions to meet those needs.
  • Manage various training development projects including planning work, managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, achieving reliable results and managing customer expectations.
  • Determine the proper blend of learning solution that reinforces hands-on application of the tools, enhances the learning transfer, and engages learners.
  • Take initiative/be proactive without waiting for direction.

Team and Program Leadership
  • Coordinate trainers and training sessions, delivering applicable instructor led courses to all craft disciplines in our Construction Division
  • Build and maintain learning paths for various Craft positions; managing enrollments and tracking training completion for employees in those roles.
  • Manage a Craft Mentorship program, engaging, training, and supporting program participants and managers.
  • Perform regular technical and editorial reviews of training content, engaging SMEs to update content as needed.
  • Measure training and mentorship effectiveness and plan continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with senior-level stakeholders while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Hire, coach and performance manage team members consistent with McKinstry values.

What You Need To Succeed at McKinstry:
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage change in a highly dynamic environment required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality required.
  • Demonstrated abilities as a creative and analytical problem solver with a passion for excellent customer service required.
  • Education/Experience: 5+ years of overall program management experience, with 2+ years in Project Management and Program Management capacity required

5+ years experience leading Skilled Labor teams in the Construction industry with a proven track record of successful project execution required
  • 2+ years creating and delivering training and mentorship content to construction personnel required.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) required.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication abilities including skills in explaining technical topics to novices and collaborating with subject matter experts, stakeholders and managers required.
  • Ability to thrive in an innovative, fast-paced environment, can roll up their sleeves, work hard, have fun, and get the job done required.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a professional demeanor required.
  • Preferred experience:
    • First hand experience as a Construction Project Manager or Construction Superintendent
    • First hand knowledge of McKinstry's Preconstruction Planning processes
    • Working knowledge of Power BI.
    • Experience developing training courses and training program components to Industry and adult learning standards.
    • Experience with eLearning tools such as Captivate, Articulate Studio/Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Flash and Software technology like HTML, Javascript for learning portal design.
    • Experience working with Learning Management Systems like Docebo or similar.
    • Multi-media development skills in audio, video, and/or animation.

The pay range for this position is $80,100 - $134,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
