Full Job Description
Business Unit:

Cubic Defense

Job Details:

Are you a Full Stack Software Engineer with a passion for solving complex problems in a collaborative, Agile environment? You'll join an integrated product team to develop high-quality application software across our product suite, deployed to hybrid cloud environments, working closely with talented engineers to design, build, and refine solutions that make a real impact. If you're skilled across Go, JavaScript, and Python, adaptable across the full stack, and enjoy owning features end-to-end with a focus on quality, efficiency, and innovation, we'd love to have you on our team.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Ashburn, VA, with minimal travel (0-10%).

Essential Functions:
  • Collaborate with Agile team members to design, develop, test, and implement secure, high-quality full stack solutions.
  • Capture and review functional requirements; participate in architectural design and code reviews.
  • Build and ship features end-to-end across our web applications - front-end (React), backend services (Go and Node.js), and the data layer (MySQL and MongoDB).
  • Develop and extend our Go automation agent that configures, tests, and validates devices, including real-time data flows over MQTT.
  • Contribute ideas and improvements to the team's development practices and tooling, and share knowledge across the team.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise: Strong programming fundamentals with proficiency across multiple languages - we work primarily in Go, JavaScript/Node.js, and Python - and the adaptability to pick up new frameworks, tools, and datastores as our stack evolves. Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design.
  • Linux, Distributed Systems & Device Automation: Hands-on experience developing, debugging, and optimizing Linux-based distributed systems, including writing Go services that interact with hardware or networked devices to configure, test, and collect data from them.
  • Full-Stack Web & Cloud: Experience building RESTful web services, working with relational and/or document databases (we use MySQL and MongoDB), and building modern, responsive front-ends (our primary UI is React), deployed to AWS cloud services (ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway).
  • Testing: Experience building automated testing into the development process, including unit and integration tests for backend services and end-to-end tests for web applications (we use Ginkgo, Cypress, and Postman).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or 3+ years with a Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Docker, Terraform, CodePipeline).
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud for building secure, compliant solutions in regulated environments (e.g. defense).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration abilities.
