About the roleWe're looking for an experienced full stack engineer to help build and shape the experiences that power our co-branded credit card platform - used by hundreds of thousands of cardholders every day.
This role sits at the center of nearly everything user-facing at Cardless: the component library and design system that everything else is built on, the consumer app cardholders use to manage their accounts and rewards, and the internal tools our operations and risk teams rely on to run the business. You won't just maintain these experiences - you'll set the patterns and architecture that keep them consistent, scalable, and high-quality as the company grows, while also shipping real features in each of them yourself.
This is a strong fit for someone who can move fluidly across consumer, partner-facing, and internal tooling work without compromising on craft - someone who cares as much about the accessibility and reusability of a design system component as they do about the polish of a cardholder-facing onboarding flow. You'll partner closely with product, design, backend engineering, and our risk and compliance teams, and you'll have real influence over how Cardless's frontend platform evolves.
What you'll do- Own and evolve our component library and design system: build scalable, reusable components and establish the patterns that keep our consumer app, partner-facing UIs, and internal tools consistent and high-quality
- Build and ship features in our consumer app, from cardholder onboarding through account management and rewards
- Design and build internal tools that give operations and risk teams the workflows and visibility they need to run the business
- Take projects from concept to production: requirements, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Partner closely with product, design, backend engineering, partners, risk, and compliance to deliver quickly and reliably
- Drive improvements in performance, accessibility, observability, and developer experience across the stack
- Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the evolution of our frontend platform
- Provide technical guidance to peers across engineering
What we're looking for- 5+ years of frontend engineering experience building production systems at scale, including 3+ years with React across consumer products and data-heavy internal tools
- Strong fundamentals in state management, component architecture, accessibility, testing, and UI quality, with familiarity with experimentation and personalization systems a plus
- Experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems used across multiple products, with an eye for usability, scalability, and maintainability
- Ability to move across consumer, partner, and internal surfaces without compromising on craft or user experience
- Proven track record of delivering complex projects end-to-end in cross-functional environments
- Clear communicator who learns quickly and teaches others just as well
- Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with competing priorities and deadlines
Bonus points- Experience in fintech, payments, fraud, or financial services
- Familiarity with micro-frontend architectures or component library development
- Familiarity with Next.js, TailwindCSS, React Native, Yarn monorepos
- Working knowledge of API design and backend integration patterns (REST/GraphQL) to collaborate effectively with backend teams
