Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Help shape the future of prelicensure nursing education by combining clinical teaching, faculty development and leadership, simulation and lab education, and healthcare partnership engagement across a growing clinical network.

The Full-Time Faculty and Clinical Education Lead is a non-tenure track faculty position in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Lab and Clinical Education, this remote role supports prelicensure nursing education through clinical instruction, skills lab and simulation facilitation, student supervision, clinical faculty development, and clinical partner engagement. The faculty member serves as an academic and operational resource supporting implementation of the College's clinical education strategy and consistent, high-quality learning environments across clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings. The role collaborates with academic leadership, lab faculty, clinical operations, course faculty, part-time clinical instructors, and healthcare partners to advance student learning, faculty effectiveness, competency-based evaluation, clinical judgment, NCLEX-RN readiness, and clinical education quality. Preference will be given to candidates located in New York State or the Southeastern United States. Regular travel to clinical partner sites is required, with flexibility for clinical schedules, site visits, lab and simulation activities, and occasional evening or weekend commitments.

This position is based out of the university's home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to perform the essential functions of this job (e.g., Laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach, facilitate, and evaluate prelicensure students in clinical, skills lab, and simulation environments.
  • Provide direct clinical instruction based on program needs, faculty coverage, site requirements, and emerging priorities.
  • Supervise and mentor students in safe nursing practice, clinical judgment, psychomotor skills, professionalism, and licensure readiness.
  • Apply course outcomes, competency expectations, evaluation criteria, policies, and grading standards consistently.
  • Identify and escalate student learning, safety, professionalism, and performance concerns; support remediation and student success strategies.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, development, mentoring, retention, and evaluation of part-time clinical instructors.
  • Conduct clinical faculty observations, site visits, evaluations, and coaching; promote consistent clinical teaching and evaluation practices.
  • Cultivate clinical partnerships through communication, site visits, needs assessment, timely follow-up, and collaboration with clinical operations.
  • Identify prospective clinical sites aligned with curriculum, accreditation, geographic, and placement-capacity needs.
  • Support partnership discussions, agreement development or renewal, partner onboarding, and resolution of placement-related concerns.
  • Collaborate on clinical, lab, and simulation quality improvement, curriculum implementation, program assessment, accreditation, and NCLEX preparation.
  • Represent the School of Nursing professionally with students, faculty, healthcare partners, consortiums, and external stakeholders.

  • Hold a Master's degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited institutions.
  • Maintain an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York, Florida, and Tennessee, or obtain required licensure by the date of hire.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of five years of registered nursing experience across diverse clinical settings, including care of patients across the lifespan and current acute care hospital experience.
  • Bring recent experience in prelicensure clinical nursing education; three years of experience preferred.
  • Maintain current CPR certification and demonstrate proficiency in nursing skills and clinical technologies.
  • Meet all clinical site onboarding, credentialing, and compliance requirements and travel to partner clinical sites as needed.
  • Provide flexibility to support clinical schedules, laboratory and simulation activities, and occasional evening or weekend commitments.


The hiring salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $90,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting
