Founding Sales Development Representative as our first GTM hire to help scale our founder-led sales motion with enterprise customers.
We've grown from 0 to multi-million ARR in under two years, working with many of the top 20 pharma companies. You'll partner directly with the founders to build the outbound engine from scratch - defining how we identify, engage, and convert customers across pharma, biotech, and research institutions.
This is not a traditional SDR role. You'll operate as a
foundational GTM partner, owning pipeline creation, engaging deeply with technical buyers, and helping shape how Tamarind communicates value to the market.
What You'll Do- Build pipeline in creative ways (scientific papers, conference attendees, research labs, partnerships)
- Design and execute outbound campaigns across email, LinkedIn, and other channels
- Engage with scientists, ML researchers, and pharma stakeholders - translating Tamarind's capabilities into clear value
- Qualify and progress leads across complex enterprise sales cycles (biotech 10 pharma)
- Partner with founders and engineering to incorporate customer feedback into product direction
- Support field efforts at industry conferences and events
- Help define Tamarind's early GTM motion - messaging, targeting, and process
Week in the Life- Partner with founders on pipeline strategy and messaging
- Run outbound experiments and iterate quickly based on results
- Engage with prospects across scientific and technical roles
- Translate customer conversations into actionable insights for product
- Support live demos, pilots, and early deal cycles
Ideal Qualifications- Experience in a sales or SDR role, ideally at a startup or selling technical products
- Comfort engaging with technical audiences (scientists, engineers, researchers)
- High agency - ability to operate in ambiguity and build from zero
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness to work onsite in San Francisco and travel as needed
- Curiosity and interest in AI, drug discovery, or life sciences
Pluses- Experience selling SaaS or technical platforms with large ACVs
- Background or exposure to life sciences or biotech
- Experience using tools like Apollo, Clay, or similar
- Ability to automate workflows or leverage AI tools in outbound
