Position Overview

BayCare Medical Group, the largest and most respected physician-led medical group in the Tampa Bay area, is seeking an Advanced Endoscopist to join a growing and well-established team of four Gastroenterologists based at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity to expand and enhance GI services, with a particular focus on advancing endoscopic capabilities, including Endoscopic Ultrasound. The ideal candidate will play a key role in further developing advanced procedural offerings while collaborating in a collegial, patient-centered environment.

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, organization, and continuous improvement of the ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. The Program Director ensures compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, develops and maintains an academically rigorous training environment, supports fellow recruitment and development, and promotes excellence in patient care, education, quality, safety, research, and scholarly activity.

The Program Director collaborates with institutional leadership, faculty, fellows, and multidisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive educational experience that prepares trainees for successful independent practice and board certification in Gastroenterology.

This position is 70% clinical and 30% administrative. Expecting our first class of Fellows in 2028.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an active clinical practice in Gastroenterology. Advanced or General
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures consistent with specialty expertise.


Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of Internal Medicine Residency and ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship (or equivalent training)
  • Ability to obtain FL medical license
  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or equivalent..
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in Gastroenterology following fellowship training.
  • Prior leadership experience in an academic medical center, teaching hospital, or fellowship program.
