Peterson Trucks has the immediate need for a Lead Technician based at our San Martin, CA location.

SUMMARY

The Lead Technician is responsible for coordinating service shop activities and performing service and repair work as needed to ensure prompt service to internal and external customers. Additional responsibilities include providing technical support and on-the-job training to Truck Technicians and facilitating completion of large and complex projects in the shop.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
  • Organize, prioritize, schedule and assign work in the department to optimize department productivity.
  • Initiate and respond to communication with department supervisor, other departments, and customers in a timely manner to optimize customer satisfaction.
  • Review all work orders for accuracy.
  • Monitor department work in progress to ensure jobs are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
  • Keep current on service, repair, and modification procedures for all brands and models of products assigned to the department.
  • Perform service and repair activities as needed to ensure department productivity.
  • Assist the department supervisor in service and customer relations issues as needed.
  • Provide technical support and assistance for all department activities.
  • Provide on-the-job technical training to department technicians as needed and make recommendations for formal training activities for department technicians.
  • Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment service; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to obtain lift truck operator certificate.

The pay hourly pay rate for this position is: $52.27. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
