Pay: Between $48.50 and $50 per hour
Schedule: Full-time applicants must be available for two out of three shifts (7:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m., 3:00 - 11:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) and have no restrictions on their schedule. PRN applicants must be available at least two days a week for two of the three shifts and one weekend a month.
About the PositionPosition is primarily responsible for delivery of resident/patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position directs and guides resident/patient teaching, activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. May supervise one or more members of the clinical staff. This position will support any nursing department (Clinic, Assisted Living or Health Care Center) at Goodwin House Alexandria based on need.
As this position works in a floating capacity, team members in this role position cannot be assigned to a regular schedule in another area of Goodwin House and must be able to work across the Health Care Center, Assisted Living, and/or the Clinic at Goodwin House Alexandria.
Key Duties- Assesses physical, psychological and social dimensions of residents/patients.
- Applies knowledge of normal aging, health promotion, special needs of the elderly, health deficits and use available resources in assignment process.
- Nursing competencies are assessed annually and PRN. Advance notice is given. Nurses must be able to pass their nursing competencies to remain employed as Goodwin Living nurse.
- Provides written assessment on admission and subsequently in the nursing process.
- Summarizes assessment data and plans and implements care based on assessment data.
- Contributes to a formal written plan of care for residents/patients.
- Initiates care based on assessment data, applies gerontological nursing knowledge of specific illness, injuries, diseases, human behavior and appropriate standards of care.
- Develops short- and long-term goals in collaboration with residents.
- Utilizes all available resources in planning care and consults as necessary with appropriate members of the Clinical Team.
- Develops discharge plan, when appropriate, which uses all available resources.
- Inrforms UAI's on prospective residents and with changes in condition of residents/patients.
- Helps Clinic Coordinator determine level of living.
- Works with doctors in the clinic and getting residents/patients to clinic for their appointments.
- Provides self-care instruction and helps residents/patients schedule outside medical appointments.
Job Requirements - Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Program. Registered Nurse Preferred
- Must have current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state.
- Valid CPR certification required.
- At least 3 years of experience required in a hospital setting, Long Term Care or comparable health care environment.
- Must be proficient with Electronic Health Records and written communication.
- Must possess ability to deal tactfully with residents, team members, and family members.
