Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The Fleet HSE Director is responsible for directing, administering, and coordinating the Safety, Health and Environmental activities in accordance with the polices, goals and objectives established by Primoris Senior Leadership, Corporate, federal, state and local requirements. This position will be responsible to develop, implement, review, and approve all components of the HSE Management system. This encompasses all shop/office locations and activities of Primoris Fleet. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to listen and build relationships with operations. The Fleet HSE Director will regularly audit internal policies and procedures and make recommendations to the VP of HSE.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Provide leadership to the Fleet HSE Department
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure Primoris Fleet achieves its annual HSE Strategic Objectives/Outcomes
  • Schedule, coordinates, and documents incident reviews following significant incidents and near misses
  • Communicate corrective actions and lessons learned across all Fleet locations
  • Monitor HSE specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Formulate and recommend annual HSE Objectives/Outcomes
  • Review, monitor, and implement state and federal legislation changes
  • Provide support, training, and oversight for the effective implementation of the HSE Management System throughout Primoris Fleet
  • Assist in conducting and/or scheduling of training (as required)
  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of the HSE Management Systems and programs
  • Provide regular updates regarding efficiency of HSE Management Systems, statistical data, and improvement opportunities to Primoris Fleet Executive HSE Committee
  • Champion the organizations safety culture and make necessary adjustments or recommendations to improve the culture
  • Lead HSE Management System revisions and implementation when required
  • Ensure operations are provided with the proper HSE support to manage their office locations and shop(s)
  • Demonstrate ownership and leadership by actively participating in formal inspections, audits, assessments and observations
  • Review and support all major incident investigations which may include leading and/or participation in CauseMap RCA's
  • Provide support for corrective action implementation
  • Identify and establish occupational clinics and other emergency services that are needed for all office/shop locations
  • Oversee and approve standardization of HSE documentation including document control procedures
  • Chair the Primoris Fleet Executive HSE Committee Meetings
  • Ensure that fair and full implementation of the Company's HR policies and practices are in place across the Department
  • Ensure significant incident reporting is completed as per internal and external requirements
  • Support office/shop locations within Canada & US
  • Supervise, mentor, train and assist Fleet HSE team (HSE Coordinators, HSE Administrators, Field Technicians) in implementing and maintaining HSE compliance, policies and procedures
  • Various other duties as requested by management


Education/Experience:
  • Four-year Occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and or experience
  • A valid safety professional designation issued by the BCSP (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to comply with federal, state, local and company safety regulation requirements
  • Knowledge of Fleet safety and heavy equipment safety preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Manager


SKILLS:
  • Ability to recognize imminent danger and act accordingly
  • Ability to listen well and take in feedback from the employee perspective without passing judgement
  • Excellent recordkeeping abilities
  • Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to give presentations to large groups of employees
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks
  • Good communication skills (oral, written, listening, and presentation)
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Effective interpersonal and supervisory skill
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & presentation skills
  • Attention to detail with excellent writing/editing skills
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Intelex, etc
  • A self-starter requiring minimal supervision with the ability to multi-task and define priorities
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional and courteous manner
