Firmware Developer - Wesko Locks

We are seeking an experienced Firmware to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for Wesko Locks' electronic products. This role will help ensure that our firmware is reliable, performs effectively, integrates with hardware designs, and supports product functionality, connectivity, and user experience

This position reports to the Director of Engineering and is based on-site in Mississauga, Ontario.

What will you be doing
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for electronic locking products
  • Develop firmware for microcontroller-based systems using C and RTOS environments
  • Implement and support communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, BLE, and Wi-Fi
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware issues through root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with hardware and engineering teams throughout product development
  • Integrate firmware with sensors, peripherals, and communication modules
  • Support product validation, testing, and verification activities
  • Assist with firmware releases, updates, and technical documentation
  • Provide technical support to production and other internal teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new product development
  • Perform additional duties as required

What are we looking for
  • 5-7 years of embedded firmware or software development experience
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in C programming
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based products
  • Knowledge of communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and UART
  • Experience with wireless technologies such as BLE and Wi-Fi
  • Familiarity with RTOS, Git, and development tools
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Additional Requirements
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Occasional travel up to 10% may be required
  • Available to work occasional additional hours based on business needs

Compensation

This posting is to fill a vacant role. Compensation for this role is $100,000- $125,000 per year (based on experience). We may use technology-assisted or automated tools to support parts of the recruitment process; all hiring decisions are made by our team.
