DescriptionThe Financial Accountant will support financial reporting, management reporting, overhead expense analysis, budgeting, and related projects within a small team environment. This role will assist with quarterly and annual reporting deliverables, monthly and quarterly close activities, and the preparation and review of financial statements and expense budgets. This position requires a detail-oriented accounting professional who can apply accounting knowledge, analyze financial information, communicate clearly, and manage assigned responsibilities with independence. Responsibilities required of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the preparation and review of management's quarterly financial supplement, financial reporting packages submitted to the parent company, and audited standalone company financial statements.
- Assisting with audited pension plan financial statements required for Department of Labor reporting.
- Performing monthly and quarterly overhead expense reviews, including analysis of actual results, close support, and variance explanations.
- Assisting with the preparation, review, and analysis of annual overhead expense budgets.
- Preparing and maintaining financial schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation; reviewing financial results and expense activity to identify trends, variances, or items requiring follow-up.
- Supporting ad hoc financial reporting, expense analysis, budgeting, and management reporting projects.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables, x-lookups, and other functions to support financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
- Ability to analyze financial information and explain variances or trends clearly.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a small team environment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
Preferred Skills & Experience- Familiarity with ERP systems, Workday is a plus.
- Insurance or reinsurance industry experience.
- Experience with financial reporting, expense analysis, budgeting, or audit support.
- Experience preparing or reviewing financial schedules and supporting documentation.
Work ScheduleTransRe is supportive of an agile work schedule, which may differ based on individual roles, your local office's practices and preferences marketplace trends, and TransRe's business objectives. This position is located in our New York City office and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office per week, and 2 days remote.
CompensationIn addition to base salary, for this position, TransRe offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity. The anticipated annual base salary range in New York for this position, exclusive of benefits, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity is $80,000 - $110,000. This range is an estimate and the actual base salary offered for this position will be determined based on certain factors, including the applicant's specific skill set and level of experience.
