Summary of the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Field Applications Engineer to join our team in Chandler, AZ.

Summary of the role

The Field Applications Engineer operates in coordination with the applications and sales teams to provide applications support for automated X-ray systems (AXI).

Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-sales support to salespersons during evaluation periods requiring technical knowledge of equipment, applications knowledge, industry knowledge, and presentation skills.
  • Participate on pre-sales discussions with Customers as a technical expert
  • Provide high level applications support to set up and program systems at customer sites.
  • Perform customer training to ensure machine utilisation is maximised within the customer's process.
  • Create applications reports demonstrating equipment capabilities and strengths
  • Work on technical publications and applications notes in collaboration with the rest of the applications group
  • Diagnose and resolve customer issues and concerns with AXI equipment
  • Basic troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software during installation activities.
  • Attend appropriate tradeshows, conferences and industry events to demonstrate equipment and/or present technical information on behalf of the company.
  • Gather intelligence on markets, competitors and customers and provide analysis and advice to management.
  • Providing training material for new products and features


Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar technical role
  • Industry experience in electronics manufacturing equipment
  • Strong hands-on attitude
  • Experienced and willing to work in a lab / industrial environment
  • Good communication skills written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Global mindset with ability to accommodate extensive travel, both domestic and international (approx 70%).
  • Creative thinker with good problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking technologies.
  • Working experience with automated optical (AOI) and/or automated X-ray (AXI) inspection equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electronics assembly industry and manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, SAP C4C, etc.) is preferred.


Travel
  • 70% of the time. International travel as required to customers and regional offices.
