Full Job Description
Job Title: Senior Federal Project Manager
Job Type: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday - Friday)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 annually, DOE
Location: Flexible (onsite training at Kansas City headquarters)

Position Overview

The Senior Federal Project Manager owns the full lifecycle of assigned federal projects, from award through closeout. They make sure each project meets its goals within scope, schedule, budget and key performance indicators. This role leads contract execution, compliance, project controls and stakeholder communication across multiple federal projects.

Essential Functions
  • Lead contract and subcontract reviews, and make sure permits, insurance certificates, and bonds are issued promptly after award
  • Develop and submit all project planning documents (Site Staging, Safety, Quality, Waste, Small Business Subcontracting, etc.)
  • Lead Pre-Construction, Progress, and After-Action meetings with clear agendas and action items
  • Prepare the Schedule of Values, oversee billings, review invoices, and monitor job costs and forecasts
  • Find, subcontract, and manage other contractors, architects, and suppliers as the scope requires
  • Manage submittals, change orders, and RFIs, with RFIs submitted within 48 hours of notice
  • Work with the Superintendent and Operations to monitor schedules, and respond to clients and stakeholders
  • Manage several projects at once through closeout, including warranty and closeout documents


Required Skills and Abilities
  • OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain) and a valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance
  • Advanced knowledge of federal construction compliance, contract requirements, codes, standards, and safety protocols
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling, including building, updating, and maintaining project schedules
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, solicitations, and contracts
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Buildertrend, RMS, and other PM software
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and time management skills

Education and Experience
  • Degree in Construction Management or Project Management preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction project management and trade industry experience
  • Experience working as or directly with prime contractors on federal projects
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred


Work Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Pass an initial drug test and take part in the random drug testing program
  • Mostly indoor office environment (about 90% office, 10% field)
  • Some outdoor work in all types of weather
  • Ability to work at heights, including on rooftops
  • Occasional travel for site visits, in-person training, and networking
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and walking
  • Overtime and weekend work as needed
