About This Position:
This position is responsible for reviewing road and bridge projects for compliance with the Department's Policy for Roadside Vegetation Management, as well as designing, planning, and administering major and minor landscape architectural and facility projects. The incumbent coordinates with professional consultants, reviews project plans and specifications, prepares cost estimates, and oversees construction activities to ensure projects meet departmental standards and requirements. The incumbent must be self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision while applying sound judgment to address unforeseen project conditions. A current license to practice landscape architecture in Louisiana is required, along with participation in DOTD training programs and continuing education to maintain professional licensure and technical proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design; OR

A bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus two years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design; OR

A current Louisiana license in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus two years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

• Reviews road and bridge project plans for compliance with DOTD's Policy for Roadside Vegetation Management and acceptable landscape architectural design practices.
• Designs and develops plans, specifications, and cost estimates for landscape architectural, facility construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
• Coordinates with professional consultants, reviews design contracts and construction plans, and oversees construction activities, inspections, and project completion.
• Evaluates existing facilities and potential project sites, prepares recommendations for improvements, and assists with long-range facility planning and public inquiries.

Compensation:

• Facility Project Planner 3 - $27.52/Hourly up to $49.55/Hourly

The incumbent may be required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as maintain the following licensing:

• Required: A current Louisiana license in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design plus two years of experience in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, or interior design.
