Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public research university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was founded in 1853 as the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy, and became Louisiana State University in 1870. LSU offers over 235 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across 14 colleges and schools, including the E. J. Ourso College of Business, the College of Engineering, and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The university is also home to the LSU Agricultural Center and the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans. LSU has a strong athletic program, with its teams known as the LSU Tigers.
