Full Job Description
Primary Objective:
The RODI Manager will lead and develop a team of technicians responsible for the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of reverse osmosis and deionized (RODI) water systems to support Fab operations 24/7.
Major Areas of Accountability:
• Lead, develop and direct RODI technicians across assigned shifts to provide reliable 24/7 support for Fab water systems and manufacturing operations.
• Manage daily work orders and technician assignments; prioritize preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Oversee routine operation and maintenance of assigned water pretreatment, reverse osmosis, deionization, storage, pumping, chemical-feed and distribution equipment.
• Monitor critical operating conditions and water-quality indicators; ensure timely response to process alarms, performance deviations and equipment failures in accordance with site procedures.
• Coordinate troubleshooting and restoration of unplanned down events; communicate operational impacts and escalate significant reliability, water-quality or safety risks to management.
• Lead technicians in documenting failure investigations and implementing sustainable root cause corrective actions using structured 3D/8D methods, where applicable.
• Implement approved training and qualification plans; coach, mentor and provide performance feedback to technicians while supporting consistent shift-to-shift practices.
• Make daily staffing and resource allocation decisions within established priorities, procedures and approved budgets in coordination with engineering, maintenance and manufacturing.
• Ensure work complies with applicable site safety, environmental and quality requirements, including chemical handling, lockout/tagout and equipment isolation procedures.
• Maintain accurate operating records, maintenance documentation, shift turnover communications and required internal compliance records; promptly elevate reportable issues.
• Coordinate contractor work and vendor technical support within approved scope, work orders and purchasing processes.
• Partner with engineers to execute approved equipment upgrades, maintenance strategies and process improvements that improve availability, water quality and cost performance.
• Track and communicate performance measures, including equipment availability, maintenance completion, corrective actions and operational trends.
• Support cost reduction and waste-minimization initiatives through effective use of chemicals, consumables, utilities and maintenance resources.
• Promote a safe, collaborative and accountable work culture; maintain 5S principles and continuous improvement practices.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: BS Degree in engineering or a technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant technical leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in industrial facilities, water treatment or related technical operations, including experience leading or supervising technicians.
• Demonstrated ability to direct shift activities, develop employees and deliver results in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Positive interpersonal skills, high energy, self-motivation and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and track multiple work orders, projects and operational issues while meeting commitments and adapting to changing business needs.
• Knowledge of industrial water-treatment equipment, mechanical systems, instrumentation and maintenance practices; ability to interpret operating data and technical documentation.
• Experience with structured troubleshooting and root cause problem-solving methodologies.
• Working knowledge of safe work practices, chemical handling and applicable environmental and quality procedures.
• Accurate and precise attention to detail in the performance of the role.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, which may include standing, bending, squatting and lifting.
• Knowledge and proficiency in computer use, Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS applications.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in semiconductor Fab or other high-purity manufacturing environments with strict water-quality and uptime requirements.
• Experience with reverse osmosis systems, ion-exchange/deionization processes, pretreatment, filtration, chemical dosing, pumps, controls and associated distribution systems.
• Familiarity with resistivity/conductivity monitoring, online instrumentation, water-quality trending and excursion response.
• Experience with automated plant controls, PLC/SCADA or building automation systems and maintenance reliability programs.
• Prior supervisory experience with technicians on rotating 12-hour shifts or other continuous-operation schedules.
