The position, reporting to the Head of Insurance Debt Advisory, will play a key role in expanding BBVA's insurance franchise in the U.S. market by combining strategic advisory capabilities with business development and client engagement responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Drive business origination and client development with U.S. insurance companies by identifying strategic, capital, financing, and rating-related opportunities, while partnering with Coverage and Product teams to deliver the full BBVA product suite in a client-centric and product-agnostic manner.
Lead the execution of Insurance Debt Advisory mandates, including client analysis, development of strategic recommendations, preparation of presentations and marketing materials, management of Rating Agency interactions, and oversight of transaction execution. The role is expected to contribute to strengthening BBVA's position as a leading Debt Advisory partner for U.S. insurers.
Develop trusted relationships with senior client executives and key market internal and external stakeholders, including CFOs, Treasurers, Chief Actuaries, Chief Risk Officers, and Rating Agency analysts, with the objective of elevating strategic dialogue and generating value-added business opportunities.
Provide leadership and mentorship within the Insurance Debt Advisory team, overseeing day-to-day activities of Product Specialists, ensuring high-quality analytical output, and contributing to the continued development of BBVA's insurance advisory capabilities and market positioning.
Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant experience in the insurance sector, including advisory, actuarial consulting, capital management, ratings, corporate finance, investment banking, or insurance strategy.
Strong understanding of the U.S. life insurance industry, including statutory accounting and reporting, Risk-Based Capital (RBC), U.S. GAAP, insurance Rating Agency methodologies, and broader capital and balance sheet management considerations.
Proven track record advising insurance companies on strategic, capital, financing, rating, or risk management matters, with the ability to translate technical analysis into actionable client recommendations.
Demonstrated business development and client relationship management skills, with a strong commercial mindset and track record originating advisory mandates.
Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience leading complex advisory engagements, managing multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior professionals.
SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses or must obtain within 3 months of joining
With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $260,000 to $330,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
