Job Description

As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorganChase within Enterprise Technology(Enterprise Architecture), you will help set and advance the firm's technology strategy and target state across several domains. You will work across teams to shape direction, drive adoption of standards, and enable scalable, secure, and AI-enabled solutions firmwide. You will help define and evolve architecture capabilities, build alignment among business and technology teams, and ensure target state solutions support firm priorities and deliver enterprise-wide impact.

Job responsibilities
  • Support executive decision-making by framing options, articulating trade-offs, and enabling firmwide prioritization aligned to business outcomes
  • Lead and contribute to architecture governance forums, guiding decisions and ensuring consistency at enterprise scale through clear communication and collaborative engagement
  • Define enterprise architecture strategies, reference architectures, target states, and roadmaps aligned to firmwide priorities
  • Leverage enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture analysis and decisioning, with strong validation habits and appropriate handling of sensitive data
  • Guide evaluation of current and emerging technologies using established standards and frameworks, influencing peers and decision-makers to adopt leading-edge solutions where appropriate
  • Establish reuse-first, AI-enabled architecture patterns and governance across practices, ensuring traceability, auditability, resiliency, and architectural integrity
  • Define adoptable standards, architecture patterns, and paved paths, using metrics to drive adoption and reuse across the enterprise
  • Drive alignment across architecture disciplines, partnering with engineering and product organizations to identify opportunities for simplification, modernization, and optimization
  • Advise executives on architecture strategy and direction, translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-relevant narratives for senior and non-technical audiences
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and active contributor to the architecture community, advocating for firmwide standards and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Build trusted relationships across business and technology teams, acting as a connector and collaborator who brings people together around shared goals and outcomes

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Demonstrated experience defining and driving architecture strategies across multiple domains in large, complex organizations
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and deep expertise in enterprise architecture, applications, and technical processes within one or more disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile)
  • Proven ability to apply enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within architecture and engineering workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise-grade architectures while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements
  • Proven experience guiding enterprise technology adoption, including target states, patterns, paved paths, and scalable integration
  • Demonstrated depth in a core technical domain (e.g., cloud, application, data/AI, or platform architectures) combined with enterprise-level breadth
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex technical subjects for senior and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to influence business and technology leaders, build consensus, and drive change across engineering and product organizations without direct authority
  • Experience developing implementable standards and paved paths with measurable adoption outcomes, embedding risk, control, compliance, and resilience considerations into architecture practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with formal architecture governance frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent)
  • Exposure to modern paradigms including cloud, AI/data, distributed systems, and platform-based architectures
  • Familiarity with engineering practices and software development methodologies (e.g., CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability)
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., TOGAF, cloud provider certifications, ITIL, CISSP, or equivalent)
  • Track record of driving enterprise-wide initiatives that improve consistency, reuse, and operational efficiency
  • Experience working in regulated environments, with awareness of operational resilience, third-party risk, and concentration risk considerations
