Position Description

The Executive Director of Foundation, as part of the executive leadership team, manages all fundraising opportunities for Nevada Health Centers, Inc. including grants, donor cultivation, annual campaigns and capital campaigns. The Executive Director also cultivates and secures fiscal resources, through direct giving, grants and fundraising events which contribute to the organization's mission, strategies and goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 4 years direct experience in the fields of development, fundraising, communications or related field is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or communications or related field is required; or direct experience in foundation/development may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Two or more years of working in a healthcare or social service environment required.


Responsibilities / Functional Job Description
  • Working with the Foundation staff, focuses on funding opportunities that affords the organization the opportunity to meet its' mission, vision and goals.
  • Oversees all prospect research functions in preparation for cultivation, relationship building, solicitations, recognition and ongoing relationships with donors.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and direction for major gifts and foundation/ development functions and operations.
  • Assists with the implementation and management of current and long range strategic plans as they pertain to fundraising.
  • Provides oversight and authorization to carry out major development plans and procedures, consistent with foundation policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate attention is given to all facilities in regards to their fundraising needs
  • Visits clinics/communities within the organization as deemed necessary.
  • Stays current with new ideas and trends in the community health care environment.
  • Ensures effective and ongoing communication with the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Serves on various community boards to further NVHC's role and visibility in the community.
  • Represents the organization with other healthcare organizations, governmental organizations, and the public.
  • Is familiar with and adheres to the Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Facilitates and participates in leadership meetings, internal team and large group meetings related to foundation and marketing functions.
  • Responsible for the annual board giving campaigns and other campaigns as designated. Establishes and monitors appropriate fundraising and donor policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of the Foundation staff consisting of the grants and funds procurements specialist, donor engagement specialist and organizational liaison staff.
  • Approves purchase orders and check requests for the Foundation.
  • Working with marketing, oversees marketing projects, press releases and other communications related to donors.

  • Ability to write government and other grants and be responsible for all reporting activities of grants Knowledge of non-profits and their operational issues in regards to fundraising.

  • Ability to cultivate and sustain long term relationships with donors.
  • Ability to plan and implement fundraising efforts and activities including annual appeals, donor cultivation, capital campaigns, community events, board and employee giving campaigns and other events.
  • Ability to negotiate, develop grant contracts and/or memorandum of agreements/understandings as they pertain to fundraising activities.
  • Ability to write effective public announcements, and other articles for publication.
