Full Job Description
The Role
We're hiring an Event & Community Manager based in Palo Alto to own our West Coast events. This is the founding role for our West Coast events program: you'll build it across the Bay Area and Los Angeles from the ground up, with no existing playbook to inherit and full ownership over how it takes shape. You'll design and run the experiences that bring our customers, prospects, and industry community together, from intimate dinners and executive roundtables to conference presence. You'll also help grow Nectar's community alongside the broader marketing team.
The Bay Area is home base. From Palo Alto to San Francisco, it's where we connect with tech founders, investors, and B2B operators. Los Angeles is where we show up for consumer brands, creators, and agencies. You'll split your time between both and make Nectar a known name in each.
You'll report directly to the marketing leadership team and work closely with sales, customer success, and the founders to make sure every event and community touchpoint ladders up to pipeline, retention, and brand.
What You'll Do Events
Own end-to-end planning and execution for Nectar's West Coast event calendar across SF and LA: customer dinners, executive roundtables, happy hours, creator meetups, and conference sponsorships and booths.
Run account-based event programs with sales: executive dinners and roundtables built around target accounts, with a follow-up plan for every attendee.
Build a recurring event series in both cities so Nectar has a consistent, recognizable presence in each market.
Manage budgets, vendors, venues, and logistics in both cities, and build repeatable processes so events scale smoothly as the company grows.
Partner with sales and customer success on event strategies that generate pipeline and deepen relationships with existing customers.
Track and report on event ROI (attendance, sourced and influenced pipeline, and customer sentiment), and use that data to sharpen the calendar over time.
Represent Nectar at West Coast industry conferences and manage on-site logistics, staffing, and sponsor deliverables.
Community
Support the launch and growth of Nectar's customer and industry community program (e.g., a Slack community, ambassador program, or customer council).
Help run the content and engagement cadence that keeps the community active: AMAs, office hours, member spotlights, and peer-to-peer discussion.
Use in-person events to feed the community, turning SF and LA attendees into active members.
Build authentic relationships with key West Coast customers, creators, and industry voices.
Identify and cultivate community advocates who can support case studies, referrals, and word-of-mouth growth.
Feed community insights and feedback back to the product, marketing, and customer success teams.
What You'll Bring
5-8 years of experience in B2B event marketing, community management, or a hybrid of both, with most of it at B2B SaaS companies.
A track record of running B2B field and executive events end-to-end, from concept through post-event reporting, that sourced and accelerated pipeline alongside sales.
Fluency in B2B event measurement: campaign attribution in HubSpot or Salesforce, sourced versus influenced pipeline, and post-event follow-up with target accounts.
Experience supporting or growing an online or in-person community.
Based in or near Palo Alto, with working knowledge of the Bay Area and LA event scenes: the venues, the vendors, and the people worth knowing.
Comfort operating with high autonomy in an early-stage environment where processes don't exist yet. You're excited to build them.
Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple events across two markets without dropping details.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with a real interest in connecting with people.
Willingness to travel regularly to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and industry conferences (estimated 20-30%).
Nice to Have
Experience in the social media, marketing technology, or creator economy space.
Experience marketing to brand, social, or marketing leaders as the buyer.
An existing network in Bay Area tech and in LA's consumer brand or creator communities.
Familiarity with community platforms (Slack, Discord, Circle) and event tools (Luma, Bizzabo, HubSpot).
Prior experience as an early hire at a startup, building a function from zero to one.
