What we are looking for:S&B Construction is seeking an Estimating Manager with strong experience in the Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil industry. The ideal candidate will bring a focus on project costs, construction means and methods, and innovative strategies to win bids.
Extensive experience with alternative delivery methods - such as design-build, best value, CMGC/CMAR, and/or P3 is highly preferred.

What you will do: - Thoroughly review and understand the project specifications and drawings.
- Exhibit a good understanding of how the owner pays for the Schedule of Values.
- Produce accurate take-offs and pricing of Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil components.
- Complete cost estimates on project from $10M to $500M+ price range.
- Solicit subcontractors and vendors for quotations.
- Prepare/manage Minority Participation matrix.
- Analyze self-perform activities versus subcontracted.
- Prepare/assist in creating construction schedules.
- Prepare/analyze equipment utilization schedule.
- Update databases with labor rates, vendor plug values and equipment rates.
- Complete cost estimates for assigned scopes of work on larger projects.
- Provide mentoring for less experienced estimators.
- Manage a group of assisting estimators.
- Exhibit good communication skills with internal staff, subcontractors, vendors, client representation, etc. maintaining ethical standards.
- Manage Joint Venture estimates.
- Identify risks and opportunities for projects.
- Coordinate quantity and cost comparison with Joint Venture Partners.
To be successful in this role:Required:- 4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Estimating experience
- Technical training and /or related experience
- Advanced math and computer skills
Preferred:- 10 years working in the field of Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil projects
- Design Build/ P3 Experience
- HCSS Heavy Bid, Microsoft products, Bluebeam, Smart Bid, Teams, Share Point, CADD, Viewpoint Vista & P6
- Experience estimating all types of projects/contracts
- Experience supervising others
