Description The Estimating Manager is responsible for overseeing the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects. This role involves collaborating with other departments and ensuring that all estimates are prepared in a timely and efficient manner. The Estimating Manager plays a crucial role in helping the company win bids and maintain profitability.
What Will You Do:
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities in project estimates and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates align with project requirements.
- Manage the bid process, including the preparation and submission of bid proposals.
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for bids.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing and terms.
- Ensure that all bids are competitive and meet the company's profitability targets.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding estimating-related inquiries.
- Present estimates and bid proposals to clients and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Address any client concerns or questions related to estimates and bids.
- Demonstrate expertise in various technology skills (iSqFt, On Screen, Takeoff, Blubeam and Sage Estimating)
- Demonstrate an understanding of industry standards (CSI, Master Format, BOD)
- Other responsibilities as needed.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience (including co-op and internships)
- Skilled computer and AutoCAD skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (ex. Bluebeam, Sage Estimating)
- Ability to work non-traditional hours.
