Full Job Description
Our Lead Field Service Technician - EST plays a critical role in helping customers modernize their reciprocating compression equipment through emissions reduction initiatives. You'll lead mechanical upgrade projects from planning through execution, mentor technicians in the field, solve difficult technical problems, and build trusted customer relationships along the way.

What You Will Do

  • Lead field crews executing emissions reduction and mechanical upgrade projects on reciprocating compression equipment throughout North America.
  • Take ownership of installations, commissioning, start-ups, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repairs while ensuring every project is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Direct the removal and replacement of critical engine components including turbochargers, power assemblies, fuel systems, and other major equipment upgrades.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement solutions that maximize equipment reliability and customer uptime.
  • Partner directly with customers, field operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure successful execution from project kickoff through completion.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead daily safety discussions, conduct jobsite inspections, and champion Cooper's commitment to a safety-first culture.
  • Mentor technicians, share best practices, and help develop the next generation of field service talent.
  • Represent Cooper Machinery Services as a trusted technical expert, delivering exceptional customer service on every assignment.


Who You Are

  • You bring 10+ years of hands-on experience working with reciprocating engines and compression equipment in the oil and gas industry.
  • You have hands-on Electrical and Controls experience supporting reciprocating compression equipment and are comfortable performing mechanical and controls-related upgrades as part of emissions reduction projects.
  • You have successfully led field crews and know how to keep projects moving while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • You thrive in the field, enjoy solving difficult technical problems, and remain calm under pressure.
  • You take pride in delivering outstanding customer service and building lasting customer relationships.
  • You communicate effectively with customers, teammates, and leadership while producing clear and accurate service documentation.
  • You enjoy mentoring others and leading by example.
  • You are willing to travel extensively (200-300 days annually) and embrace the variety that comes with supporting customers across North America.
  • You are dependable, adaptable, and driven to deliver results without sacrificing safety or quality.


Preferred

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, Superior™, Gemini™, Caterpillar, Clark, Waukesha, or other reciprocating compression platforms.
  • Strong understanding of engine balancing, alignment, commissioning, and equipment documentation.
  • Previous experience leading complex field service or special project teams.
  • Experience supporting customer turnarounds and outage planning.
