EPC Project Manager

Full-Time | Travel Required | Uniontown, OH | St. Albans, WV
Position Summary

As an EPC Project Manager, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex EPC projects across the power delivery market. You will be responsible for managing project performance related to safety, quality, schedule, budget, risk, client satisfaction, and overall profitability.

Working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and client stakeholders, you will drive successful project outcomes while maintaining alignment with Michels Power's operational standards and safety-first culture.

The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive leader with strong business acumen and a proven track record managing complex utility infrastructure projects. Experience with Overhead Transmission, Overhead Distribution, and/or Substation projects is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Lead EPC projects from project award through closeout, ensuring successful execution of all contractual requirements.
  • Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to address schedule, cost, quality, or resource challenges.
  • Manage project risks, opportunities, and change management processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Lead project meetings and provide clear communication regarding project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with business development and estimating teams during proposal and preconstruction activities.
Financial Management
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and profitability objectives.
  • Review project financial performance and ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
  • Evaluate change orders, contract modifications, and procurement strategies to maximize project success.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control project costs.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and support personnel.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and effective communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Mentor field and office team members while supporting professional development and growth.
  • Support workforce planning and resource allocation to meet project demands.
Safety & Quality
  • Promote and maintain Michels Power's safety-first culture throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Participate in project site visits and actively engage with field personnel to reinforce safety and operational excellence.

What it takes?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience within utility infrastructure, power delivery, EPC, or heavy civil construction environments
  • Experience managing EPC projects involving Overhead Transmission, Overhead Distribution, and/or Substation construction
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction sequencing, scheduling, and project controls
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, forecasting, contracts, risk, and change management
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain successful customer relationships
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project scheduling, estimating, and job cost tracking software is preferred
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
