ABOUT THE JOBThe Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Associate Manger of Policies and Procedures is responsible for the governance, development, implementation, and lifecycle management of all ESH documentation and communications. This role serves as the primary owner of ESH policies, procedures, standards, work instructions, and related management system documentation, ensuring content is technically accurate, compliant, user-friendly, and aligned with business objectives.
This individual partners closely with ESH subject matter experts, Communications, Operations, Legal, People Team, and other stakeholders to oversee new and revised documentation, manage review and approval workflows, and ensure periodic reviews are completed in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Documentation Management
- Own the development, maintenance, and governance of all ESH documentation, including policies, procedures, standards, work instructions, manuals, guidance documents, and supporting materials.
- Translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, version control, and document management processes.
- Ensure all documentation reflects current regulatory requirements, company standards, and operational practices.
Technical Writing
- Lead technical writing efforts for new and revised EHS policies and procedures.
- Interview subject matter experts to capture technical requirements and operational processes.
- Edit and proofread documentation for technical accuracy, readability, consistency, and compliance.
- Develop supporting materials such as job aids, FAQs, quick reference guides, and training documentation.
Communications & Change Management
- Partner with Corporate Communications to develop communication and rollout strategies for new or updated ESH programs and documentation.
- Coordinate communication plans that effectively reach impacted employees across multiple functions and locations.
- Drive accessibility to these documents through IT tools like Confluence, Box and similar.
Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate cross-functional review and approval cycles for all EHS documentation.
- Facilitate collaboration among EHS leaders, Legal, Operations, People Team, Quality, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Track comments, revisions, approvals, and implementation timelines.
- Resolve conflicting feedback while maintaining document integrity and compliance.
Document Governance & Compliance
- Manage the complete document lifecycle from creation through retirement.
- Develop and maintain document review schedules and ensure periodic reviews are completed on time.
- Monitor document effectiveness and recommend updates based on regulatory changes, audits, incidents, and operational improvements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and demonstrating document control compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Technical Communications, English, Engineering, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, document management, ESH, quality systems, regulated industries, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting Environmental, Health & Safety management systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar regulatory and management system frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience writing technical policies, procedures, and management system documentation.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional document review and approval processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working within document management systems and version control processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with change management and organizational communications.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Confluence, document control software, or enterprise content management systems.
- Experience supporting DoD manufacturing or energetics regulated environments, AS 9100, ISO 9001, and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Natural tendency towards challenging the status quo to find new and novel ways to improve EHS management systems

US Salary Range
$112,000-$149,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
