Job Description:About the Role:As an EHS Manager, you will be a key player in shaping a safe, healthy, and engaging work environment for the Wayland, MI, plant, a manufacturer of quality non-dairy creamer products. The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading all EHS programs and initiatives within the plant to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. This role is accountable for ensuring the facility adheres to all governmental and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and proactively identifying and mitigating risk. The EHS Manager also plays a key role in training, continuous improvement, and overall employee engagement regarding safety and environmental performance.
You'll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:- Provide leadership for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-wide safety, environmental, and risk management programs, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, powered industrial vehicles (PIV), hot work, and emergency preparedness.
- Oversee workplace incident management, including injury and illness recordkeeping, investigations, corrective actions, safety metrics, and reporting to drive injury reduction and continuous improvement.
- Lead safety audits, hazard assessments, risk assessments, and compliance reviews, partnering with site leadership to identify risks and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Coordinate emergency response and business continuity activities, including emergency planning, drills, and incident command responsibilities for critical events.
- Deliver and oversee EHS training programs, ensuring employee certifications, qualifications, and required documentation remain current and compliant.
- Partner with plant leadership, employees, and safety committees to foster a proactive safety culture and drive safety results.
Important Details:- This is a full-time, on-site role on First Shift, Monday through Friday. Occasional flexibility is required to support alternate shifts and weekends.
- The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $97,500.00 - 146,300.00 USD annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics and business or organizational needs. For certain roles, the successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award, bonus and equity pay.
You'll fit right in if you have:- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Business Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on EHS program implementation and oversight.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, governmental standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to lead change and influence safety culture across all levels of the organization. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience with safety management systems and risk assessments preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office is required.
