About the Role

The Enterprise Architecture & Engineering Sr. Director is a strategic technology leader responsible for defining and executing MyEyeDr.'s enterprise architecture, engineering, integration, and platform modernization strategy. This leader will drive the design and evolution of business-critical technology capabilities that enable growth, scalability, operational excellence, and digital innovation across the enterprise.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business stakeholders, shaping technology investments, architectural standards, engineering practices, and modernization roadmaps. The Senior Director will lead the enterprise architecture function while establishing modern engineering disciplines, cloud-native capabilities, API-first platforms, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration strategies that support current and future business objectives.

This position is accountable for creating a future-state technology landscape that delivers resiliency, agility, security, interoperability, and business value across clinical, retail, corporate, and customer-facing systems.

The hiring range for this position is $235,000 to $265,000 annually, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary), based on experience and proximity to the Vienna Home Office.

You Will
  • Define and execute the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, standards, and governance framework aligned with business priorities and corporate growth objectives.
  • Develop multi-year architecture and technology modernization roadmaps that support enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Lead architecture governance processes and review boards to ensure alignment with strategic technology principles and investment priorities.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership, product, operations, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions.
  • Establish reference architectures, technology standards, design patterns, and engineering principles across the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to accelerate innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
  • Lead the evolution of modern software engineering practices, including DevSecOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code, platform engineering, and developer experience initiatives.
  • Establish enterprise engineering standards that improve software quality, scalability, observability, security, and operational resilience.
  • Build and mature cloud-native engineering capabilities leveraging microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, serverless technologies, and platform services.
  • Drive modernization of legacy applications through refactoring, replatforming, and cloud migration strategies.
  • Champion engineering excellence through architecture reviews, design reviews, performance optimization, and technical mentoring.
  • Define enterprise integration strategies utilizing API-first, event-driven, and service-oriented architectural patterns.
  • Lead architecture for enterprise integrations across clinical, retail, ERP, CRM, HR, finance, and customer experience platforms.
  • Establish standards for APIs, event streams, messaging platforms, data integration, and interoperability.
  • Oversee design of scalable integration frameworks leveraging cloud-native services, API gateways, event brokers, and messaging platforms.
  • Develop enterprise data architecture principles that support real-time analytics, business intelligence, AI initiatives, and operational reporting.
  • Govern cloud architecture across Azure, AWS, and emerging platform technologies.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise platform services, including identity management, API management, observability, caching, container orchestration, secrets management, and integration services.
  • Establish standards for scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, cost optimization, and cloud governance.
  • Lead technology architecture efforts supporting digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent process optimization initiatives.


About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise technology solutions.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, software architecture, or technology leadership roles.
  • 5+ years leading architecture, engineering, or platform teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale retail, healthcare, multi-site, or customer-centric organizations preferred.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks, governance models, and strategic technology planning.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-native architectures on Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong experience with modern software engineering practices including DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and platform engineering.
  • Demonstrated success building microservices-based, API-first, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes and modern orchestration technologies.
  • Expertise with API management platforms, OpenAPI standards, GraphQL, RESTful services, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience implementing identity and access management solutions leveraging OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Knowledge of enterprise messaging technologies, event streaming platforms, and asynchronous integration patterns.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data governance, relational databases, NoSQL platforms, and modern analytics ecosystems.
  • Experience establishing observability practices, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational intelligence solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled architectures, automation platforms, and emerging digital technologies.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision and near-term business outcomes.
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional leaders and drive enterprise-wide transformation.
  • Strong business acumen with experience aligning technology decisions to organizational objectives.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple strategic initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
