Full Job Description
Full-time position | Hybrid - San Mateo, CA + Field

YOUR IMPACT

As an Enterprise AE covering Automotive, Industrial or Semiconductor you own Luminary's revenue motion across a diverse set of engineering-intensive industries - automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, heavy industrial and turbomachinery companies, semiconductor capital equipment makers and chip designers. You drive net new logos and account expansion from prospecting through signed order form. You are equally comfortable explaining a physics model to a chief engineer and walking an account roadmap with Luminary leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own a territory across Automotive, Industrial and Semiconductor. Prospecting, qualifying, and closing net new logos while expanding existing accounts.
  • Run complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise sales cycles from first conversation through commercial close, navigating technical buyers (simulation leads, chief engineers, directors of R&D), economic buyers, and procurement.
  • Partner with Solutions Engineers to align on use case scoping, SOW structure, and delivery capacity before and during the sales cycle - maintaining continuity through GTM-to-delivery handoff.
  • Lead commercial conversations with technical credibility: engage substantively with engineering teams about simulation workflows, AI-driven analysis, and where Physics AI creates competitive advantage in their domain.
  • Build and maintain executive relationships across engineering, product, and R&D leadership - VP Engineering, Chief Engineers, Directors of Simulation, and Heads of Advanced Engineering - at target accounts.
  • Develop account plans and territory strategy; manage pipeline in CRM with rigor and forecast accurately.
  • Represent Luminary at industry conferences, customer on-sites, and events (SAE World Congress, CES, SEMICON West, Hannover Messe, POWERGEN, etc.).
  • Bring market and competitive signal back to GTM and Product leadership - surface emerging use cases, buyer patterns, and competitive dynamics across your verticals.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5-10 years of enterprise B2B sales experience, with a demonstrated track record of closing six- and seven-figure deals in a complex, long-cycle environment.
  • Domain fluency in one or more target verticals - enough to earn credibility with simulation engineers, chief engineers, and R&D directors. You understand the engineering workflows and business pressures these teams face.
  • Experience selling engineering software, simulation software, or AI/ML tools into technical buyers in automotive, industrial, semiconductor, or energy. CAE, EDA, PLM, digital twin, or HPC experience is directly relevant.
  • Comfort with technical complexity - you can translate physics-based modeling into business value and adapt your pitch across diverse engineering disciplines without losing credibility.
  • CRM rigor and pipeline discipline - you build, manage, and close your own pipeline.
  • Collaborative orientation - Luminary's GTM motion is tightly coupled with delivery; you partner closely with LDEs and technical teams throughout the sales cycle and post-close.
  • Self-starter mentality, comfortable with ambiguity, persistent through long cycles, willing to travel 25-40% to customer sites and industry events.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience selling to automotive OEMs (Tesla, Ford, GM, BMW, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Rivian, Lucid) or Tier-1 suppliers (Bosch, Continental, ZF, Magna, Aptiv).
  • Prior experience selling to major industrial companies (Siemens, GE, Carrier, Trane, Grundfos, Flowserve, Caterpillar, Atlas Copco, Cummins) or enterprise software companies serving industrial sectors.
  • Prior experience selling to semiconductor capital equipment companies (Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA, ASML, Tokyo Electron), chip designers or foundries (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, TSMC, Samsung, Qualcomm, Broadcom), or EDA/simulation vendors.
  • Background in, or deep familiarity with, high-fidelity simulation: FEA, CFD, electromagnetics, thermal analysis, EDA workflows, or rotating machinery analysis.
  • Track record of building net new pipeline in technical or engineering-first markets where education and trust-building are central to the sales motion.
