OverviewThis role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the 2nd Shift Engineering team, responsible for providing real-time engineering support to manufactuing, assembly, quality, and operations across the entire site
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for the evaluation and disposition of nonconforming conditions, production issues, and engineering deviations while ensuring compliance with engineering requirements, regulatory standards, and company procedures
- Establish priorities and allocate engineering resources to support production, schedules, recovery activities, emergent manufacturing issues, and critcal program milestones
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, Stress Engineering, Materials & Processes, Supply Chain, and Program leadership to develop technically sound and producible solutions to complex manufacturing challenges
- Drive timely engineering response and decision-making to minimize production disruption, traveled work, recurring defects, and schedule impacts
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- This position is for 2nd Shift.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other related course of study obtained from an ABET accredited engineering program or equivalent international accreditation
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong presentation skills
- Strong emotional intelligence skills and professional presence to be able to work with company executives
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Master's or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, science, engineering, or other related course of study obtained from an ABET accredited engineering program or equivalent international accreditation
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Experience with new programs
- Network across the aerospace and defense industry
- Experience in collaborating with executive-level managers and managing complex engineering designs
- Experience with Program Management Best Practices (Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management, Enterprise Standard Gated Process, Baseline Management, etc.)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: Level L - $142,500 - $218,500
