Full Job Description
The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for developing Univar's continuous improvement capability and accountable for driving large enterprise-wide projects which require specialized depth or breadth of expertise. Guides others in resolving complex issues in a specialized area serving as a lead resource for best practices on functional teams. Also takes on a larger role mentoring junior Black Belts. This role will coordinate with various cross-functional business partners to drive targeted Univar improvement projects utilizing numerous methodologies and fundamental project management techniques including but not limited to Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma.

They will leverage process mapping, RACI, data-based decision making, moderate statistical analysis and other process improvement tools as appropriate. This person is more involved in strategic alignment for project selection, drive identification, prioritization and sequencing of projects, and collaborate in the development of operational decision support tools including executive dashboards and metric control plans for productivity benefit incorporating a tollgate system for regular project evaluation and interpret internal or external business issues and recommend solutions/best practices. This change leader will be responsible for driving all projects to completion and reporting the results to stakeholders through the tollgate and control plan process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead higher complexity projects which require larger degree of functional or business unit expertise.
  • Facilitate Business reviews, team meetings, Gemba Walks, Kaizen Events, Value Stream mapping sessions etc, maintain project status and update documents, interpret data, and contribute to the financial modeling of project impacts.
  • Coordinate the implementation and control efforts with larger interdependent projects to ensure forecasted benefits are achieved and sustained. Liaison closely with Money Belts for financial validation.
  • Support expansion of Continuous Improvement through leading training classes for Project Leads and Green Belts across organization as well as coaching at project lead level.
  • Present business solutions effectively with senior management and other stakeholders regarding project status, issues, execution and accomplishments.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or related field.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification, preferred.
  • 5-10 years overall work experience.
  • Currently hold or demonstrate ability to rapidly gain high proficiency in Lean and/or Six Sigma principles as well as delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to consider new perspectives to solve complex problems. Seen as an expert in functional, discipline or business unit area.
  • Influential leadership, strong team facilitation capabilities. Demonstrated ability to get results through others and remove barriers to execution.
  • Independently build effective working relationships with all colleagues, customers and business partners
  • Ability to work autonomously in remote locations while coordinating several continuous improvement activities, potentially across several geographies and even countries.
  • Demonstrate effective ability to teach and train C.I. courses to internal candidates
  • Capacity to meet deadlines and satisfy customers with multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to facilitate more intricate cross-functional process improvement teams. Articulate well.
  • Very strong aptitude to collect, analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data. Demonstrate excellent analytical, root cause analysis, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mini-Tab required MS Access and statistical software experience preferred


WHERE YOU'LL WORK:

This position can be based out of our locations in Morrisville, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Jamestown, NC or Providence, RI.

This is a hybrid position.
