DESCRIPTION

ENGINEERING MANAGER

POSITION PROFILE

The Engineering Manager provides a high level of property maintenance knowledge, maintains the hotel facility, including the physical building structure, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment. This position has the overall responsibility of maintaining a safe and fully functioning facility while ensuring compliance with various federal, state and local environmental, health, safety, operating and building codes, standards and regulations.

THE TASK AT HAND:
  • Perform preventative maintenance repairs and inspections as mandated by local municipalities and/or requirements on systems such as: fire suppression and sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, backflow prevention device testing, pool systems, and AC systems.
  • Must manage the property work order and preventative maintenance system and follow all protocols.
  • Assist in handling requests for service calls, evaluate requests and respond as necessary.
  • Rapid response, of all emergency situations. Record and file reports as mandated.
  • Assist maintenance staff and other departments as needed, guide and train maintenance staff on proper repairs and servicing of equipment.
  • Report to the General Manager/Hotel Manager regarding opportunities for efficient use of energy, preventive maintenance, and/or other cost-savings measures.
  • Organize and keep the maintenance department clean, stocked with supplies and control of supplies.
  • Assist or inform the General Manager/Hotel Manager when supplies are needed and par levels are low.
  • Ensure that work orders are complete and that the work that other maintenance employees have done has been done correctly.
  • Communicate with the General Manager/Hotel Manager and other department heads regarding issues and concerns that needs to be addressed. Work to find solutions.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs of the Hotel/property, buildings and grounds, and look for and address issues.
  • Participate in comprehensive weekly walkthroughs of the entire property and follow up to address all issues in a timely manner.
  • Work around guests to ensure that they are satisfied and that their concerns and issues are taken care of in a timely manner.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule including AMs, PMs, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Must use good judgment.
  • Must work as a team to drive results.
  • Must be an organized individual and prioritize well.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations, work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize well.
  • Must have a strong work ethic.
  • Must display a positive attitude.
  • Participates as an active member of the hotel Safety committee and ensures all safety protocols are adhered to consistently.
  • Other duties as assigned.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
  • Must be able to work in varied temperatures, indoor & outdoor environments under stressful weather conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • Must be able to work within hazardous environments and promote a safe work program for the maintenance staff. Work often requires being involved in physical conditions within proximity to moving mechanical parts, electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat and/or chemicals.
  • Must be able to work with atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin due to fumes, dust, odors, gases, and poor ventilation.
  • Must be able to work with skilled machinist equipment; such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch in tight restricted spaces.
  • Must have previous leadership experience in engineering/property maintenance.
  • Certifications in plumbing, electrical, HVAC preferred.
  • Schedule must be flexible.
