Salary Range: $124,000.00 to $153,000.00

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range

This position is for a Mechanical Engineer 4 within the Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineering team. Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineering is responsible for the Nuclear Quality Management System at NNS. As part of this responsibility, the team owns processes and procedures that govern critical aspects of Quality for the deckplate, inspection, and engineering. The team works collaboratively to continuously drive improvements to eliminate waste and streamline processes. Additionally, NQA Engineering is responsible for coordinating the NAVSEA 08 Evaluations bi-annually.

Responsibilities:
-Support the Nuclear Certification Council and lead major council initiatives to mitigate identified risk to Nuclear Certification Program.

-Spearhead or actively support the adoption of cutting-edge digital tools and technologies, propelling NNS into the future of Quality Assurance.
-Develop and refine procedures that guarantee every component, system, and test meets stringest regulations and exceeds expectations.
-Work hand-in-hand with inernal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and adherence to Quality standards.

The Role

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
