Full Job Description
Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates optimal, cost-effective manufacturing
processes and methods by product specifications and quality standards. This role ensures the manufacturing processes
function efficiently, safely, and effectively. This will require a thorough understanding of company standards and
equipment to ensure operators are using the equipment and machinery properly. This position also collaborates with
operators to complete other efficiency and quality related tasks, including, but not limited to, troubleshooting operations,
issuing and revising drawing and process sheets, verifying conformance of products, and training operators of equipment
and machinery. Their duties include evaluating existing manufacturing processes to improve the process flow of material
and inventory by researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency, and planning plant layouts to
optimize production. The Manufacturing Engineer also coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products,
processes, and equipment.

I. Description of Essential Job Functions:
A. Manufacturing Process Design and Development
1. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and processes.
2. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and uses computer-assisted
design software to create the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.
3. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production
methods.
4. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or
parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
5. Communicates with management to develop production and design standards.
6. Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production
schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
7. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management
decisions.
8. Completes end-to-end planning, direction, and coordination of all the manufacturing process and equipment
changes. Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan.
9. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
10. Designs, develops, tests, and/or sources various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended
manufacturing methods.
11. Review and calculate labor, material, and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future
production requirements to assist management in decision making.
12. Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports
containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the
manufacturing process.
13. Ensure that the company's manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and
regulations.

B. Manufacturing Process Operations
1. Manage process related tooling in preparation for each production run.
2. Verify conformance of components to customer specifications.
3. Review inventory and ordering plans for efficiency.
4. Diagnose and troubleshoot line operations, equipment, and machine failures and bottlenecks.
5. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer's procedures and
instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
6. Works closely with the Maintenance department to ensure the maintainability of new installations by
implementing an effective predictive and preventative program.
7. Provide support to Plant Manager, supervisors, and employees on daily production and shipping challenges.
8. Manage and conduct employee training for productivity improvement projects, such as 5S and lean.
9. Train operators how to operate plant equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
10. Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity
and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard operating procedures, cycle time analysis, and line
balancing.
11. Issue and revise drawing and process sheets as a result of continuous improvement in the process.

C. Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
1. Analyze weekly production results, identify deficiencies, and implement the necessary improvements.
2. Analyze and evaluate new and existing systems, processes, equipment, and materials by identifying valueadded
and non-value-added activities to solve production challenges, streamline processes, decrease production
costs, and/or improve throughput.
3. Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
4. Identify opportunities to prevent waste and inefficiency in production.
5. Conceive, design, test, and develop innovative solutions to production problems.
6. Develop and implement continuous improvement in capability and/or scrap reduction.
7. Evaluate employees' tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity. Work
with employees to reduce defects, increase throughput, and improve the products' dimensional capability.
8. Works with all levels of the organization to identify and implement process improvements and find process
interactions and dependencies.
9. Designs and implements lean manufacturing methods that meet regulatory compliance and improve efficiencies
for the organization.
10. Utilizes six sigma and lean manufacturing tools that will lead to reduced downtime, increased production, and
a culture of continuous improvement.
11. Track lean manufacturing metrics that provide data for process management and indicators for future
improvement opportunities.
12. Leads change management activities and ensures solution adaptability.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems
Engineering, or any equivalent technical/engineering field. Master's Degree a plus.
• 3-5+ years of related experience, preferably in engineering.
• 1-3 years of engineering experience in manufacturing or assembly processes preferred.
• Experience designing, operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining complex production machinery is desirable.
• Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects.
• Experience using project management software.
• Significant "hands on the product" type experience with ability to recognize problems, predict potential outcomes,
and implement countermeasures quickly enough to avoid problems.

Computer Skills
• Ability to use a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software applications, databases,
and automated systems to accomplish work.
• Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
• Significant use SharePoint and NAV with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly.
• Knowledge of computer or PLC-based machine control systems is desirable.
• CAD experience (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks) is desirable.
• Experience using CAD or CAM software.
• Requires knowledge of and ability to manipulate computer assisted drafting software. AutoCAD preferred.
Certificates, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
• Professional engineering licensure is preferred.
• Six Sigma certification is preferred.

Other Qualifications, Experience, or Requirements:
• Ability to speak Spanish is required for the Pharr location.
• Limited business travel in the field for project implementation, training, field testing, and/or customer support.
• Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle while carefully
observing all traffic rules and regulations.
• Requires the ability to use a variety of office/production related equipment such as a telephone, photocopier,
facsimile machine, and precision measuring instruments.
• Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including
weekends and holidays.
