Job DescriptionBecause this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
This individual will develop propulsion battery systems for conventional aircraft, helicopters, and Advanced Air Mobility vehicles using the latest cell and packaging technology. The role includes opportunities to create system architectures, develop requirements, design solutions, perform system integration and verify the design. As a technical leader in our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring successful technical execution of development programs, providing critical input to Systems Engineering discipline processes and growing the organization's talent pipeline through mentoring and coaching.
The role includes applying system engineering principles to development of aerospace propulsion battery systems through one or more of the following responsibilities:
- Develop, allocate and manage complex system, hardware and software requirements
- Research and develop complex, safety critical, high power battery system designs and architectures
- Define hardware, software, and programmable logic interfaces and functionality
- Prepare and/or review documentation for system designs and architectures in accordance with established system development processes and procedures
- Perform system and/or product integration
- Verify and validate complex aspects of system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
- Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards
Candidates should possess strong communication skills both written and oral. Candidates should also demonstrate sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface, coordinate and negotiate with company personnel, customers and suppliers. An individual at this level should demonstrate the ability to lead small work groups or program teams.

Required Skills and EducationB.S. Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
6 years of experience designing, architecting and integrating battery systems, especially for high-power or safety critical applications
Demonstrated experience integrating battery systems into vehicles or high-level power system architectures.
Experience in full lifecycle development including system requirements, design, system-level integration, validation, and verification.
Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.
Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership.
Knowledge of high voltage (> 400 volts) electrical power system design.
Knowledge of battery management system designs
Knowledge of thermal management of energy storage systems, air and liquid cooling.
Knowledge of system safety principles and failure modes and effects analysis techniques.
Preferred Skills and EducationMaster's Degree in related engineering field
Experience with development of formal validation and verification procedures.
Knowledgeable of commercial and military certification objectives and activities.
Working knowledge of model based development of systems and/or software.
Demonstrated experience testing batteries and power systems.
Demonstrated experience with deploying battery systems for safety critical applications.
Knowledge of with ARP-4754A and ARP-4761.
Demonstrated experience with DO-311A
