JOB DESCRIPTION

Manufacturing Engineer I (Production Support)

Full Time

Shift: First Shift & Second shift available

Schedule: 1st; Monday- Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

2nd; Monday–Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm

Location: Beverly, MA (100% Onsite)

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% for contract manufacturing and supply chain support

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer I (Production Support), you’ll be exposed to the world of production operations that work with complex mechanical and electrical systems and strive to ensure we maintain efficient manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Support and continuously improve manufacturing systems for complex mechanical and electrical assemblies, including wire harnesses, robotic systems, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, high-pressure systems, and module build/test operations
  • Provide daily support of contract manufacturing assembly and/or ion implanter system builds
  • Design, develop, and implement production tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to improve product quality, manufacturability, ergonomics, and operational efficiency
  • Create, revise, and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and assembly documentation for modules, subassemblies, and final product builds
  • Initiate and drive corrections to Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and engineering documentation to ensure compliance with form, fit, and function requirements while preserving design intent
  • Improve manufacturing cell performance through the application of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies; establish and document standardized work using visual work instructions and best practices
  • Lead root cause investigations for quality, process, and production issues using structured problem-solving methodologies; develop and implement effective containment, corrective, and preventive actions
  • Drive timely resolution of production, quality, and supply chain issues to minimize disruptions and maintain delivery commitments
  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and product lifecycle management activities
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to estimate production costs, establish labor and cycle time standards, and recommend tooling, equipment, and process improvements for new and existing product lines
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel and serve as a key resource for troubleshooting assembly, test, and process-related challenges
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance through process optimization, automation, and waste reduction initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in EE, ME, IE, or MFG ENG with 0-2 year of professional experience.
  • Experience with basic engineering tools such as SolidWorks/Creo, AutoCAD, or DraftSight
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment such as calipers, hand tools, DMMs, etc.
  • Capable of interpreting and analyzing engineering drawings, electrical schematics, 3D CAD models, BOMs, and GD&T specifications to support product manufacturing and process development

Our headquarters in Beverly, MA, is located directly off Route 128 and just 10 minutes from the Beverly Train Station for those using public transportation.

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$66,691.37 - $100,037.06

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
